Description

History

The schooner “Diva” is the realization of a childhood dream: to build “the sailboat of his dreams,” a simple, elegant, timeless gaff rigged schooner. The owner, a former regatta sailor, wanted this classic line to be equipped with a performant hull and modern rigging. It was only natural that naval architect Hervé Coutant was chosen for the design, and that the Chantier Fernand Hervé, in La Rochelle, was selected for the construction.
The Hervé shipyard, founded in 1946 by Fernand Hervé and still active in La Rochelle, is renowned for its wooden constructions and its exceptional “one-off” creations that blend tradition and modernity.
“Diva” was launched in 2014 (year of completion) and was notably presented at the Grand Pavois La Rochelle boat show, where it made a strong impression with its elegant line and high-end finish.
The owner explains:

“This is the boat that has occupied my mind for all these past years. Questions, a constant search for simple and elegant solutions, and above all the combination of my two passions, beautiful sailboats and woodworking. … This sailboat is both elegant and performant, fun to sail, but also easy to manage with a small crew, or even alone.”
The time has come to pass it on, with regret, for health reasons, to a new enthusiast ready to take the helm.
