Description

NEW LISTING - OYSTER 575/09 VISION.

The Oyster 575 was designed as a replacement for the Oyster 56, a tough act to follow as the 56 was our best selling model with seventy-five launched. The 575 is only a little longer than the 56 but fills the same niche – a safe, comfortable, ocean-going cruising yacht, that is also compact enough to be handled by a couple.

Launched in 2011, ‘VISION’ is a true blue water cruiser and live-aboard yacht. Hydraulic inmast mainsail and genoa furling means that you don’t have to leave the safety of the cockpit when under sail. The shoal draft keel gives her a draft of just 2.06m (6’9”) and really opens up the harbours and beaches, which would normally be out of bounds to a yacht of this size. Both bow and stern thrusters are fitted to ensure superb close quarters manoeuvrability.

The 575 is the smallest Oyster to be launched with twin wheels, a great feature that improves the view from the helm, but also permits easy access into the cockpit and below from the aft deck. Below decks ‘VISION’ has berths for seven in four cabins, with two heads/showers. The durable American White Oak gives an open, contemporary feel and the deck saloon windows flood the saloon and galley with ample natural light.

‘VISION’ is very well presented and lying in Palma, viewing is highly recommended.

MANUFACTURER'S COMMENTS

A LUXURY SAILBOAT BUILT TO ROAM THE WORLD’S OCEANS

The Oyster 575 is a popular 17.3m (57.6ft) bluewater cruising yacht from the dynamic design partnership of Oyster Yachts and Humphreys Yacht Design.

Offered as a new-build Oyster between 2011 and 2018, this luxury sailboat underwent an interior redesign with subtle changes to her layout, using the invaluable feedback of our Oyster Owners on their world travels.

The final result was a revised 575, with superyacht qualities inspired by the award-winning Oyster 625 bluewater cruiser. This included the addition of Oyster’s signature ‘Seascape’ windows for breathtaking views out from her saloon and the raising of her chart area to the same level as the saloon seating, allowing her chart table to flow seamlessly into the surrounding joinery.

A beautifully crafted companionway staircase was also added to lead guests below decks, adding to the feeling of quality and security on this luxury sailboat, and the forward guest cabin was expanded with direct access to the forward head.

Subtle joinery enhancements included the addition of sculpted headliners, upgraded cabin doors and door furniture, custom air-conditioning vents and accent lighting in the saloon, and more contemporary styling in the heads. On the practical side, her standard specification was raised to include Formula spars, a Volvo D3 engine and Raymarine i70 sailing instruments.

Pure hull lines from Humphreys Yacht Design make the Oyster 575 a fast passage-maker and an effortless bluewater cruising yacht. She boasts an exhilarating performance that placed her as the perfect Oyster for the nine owners who chose her as their entries for the 2017-19 Oyster World Rally.

1 . CONSTRUCTION

HULL NUMBER Oyster 575/09

HULL CONSTRUCTION Composite construction, moulded from female tools developed by Oyster in their own custom facility. Close supervision by the Oyster Design Team ensures a smooth and accurate finish.

The hull is moulded using a combination of vinylester and polyester resin with the outer topside finish in a white special NPG gelcoat.

The laminate material comprises a combination of E Glass, Kevlar and CarbonFibre specially designed for the yacht by the Oyster Design Team’s own structural engineers. This ‘custom’ laminate offers significant weight savings, strength and stiffness advantages over a normal GRP construction, carbon for weight and stiffness, Kevlar for impact resistance.

The topside laminate incorporates a high-tech, balsa-cored, E-glass/Carbon sandwich above the waterline, for additional strength, stiffness and insulation.

Below the waterline, the hull features a monolithic (single-skin) composite laminate, with an Aramid / Kevlar layer, reinforced with a matrix of stringers and floors.

Combined with BS1088 standard marine-ply structural bulkheads, this produces a robust structure, with excellent strength to weight qualities and proven longevity.

Additional reinforcements are included in the way of the keel recess, the keel longitudinals, mast bulkhead, P-bracket, forestay and hull stringers.

Limber holes and/or tubes are installed at appropriate points. Stringers, bulkhead landings and floors are formed over a non-structural, inert, polyurethane foam.

HULL FINISH ‘White’ hull with cove line and double boot top lines in standard ‘Oyster Blue’.

Hull polished and anti-fouled (Mar 2025). Hull sanded back to gel, primed and antifouled (April 2024).

D E C K C O N S T R U C T I O N Moulded in GRP with a balsa core for strength and insulation.

In load bearing areas the core is replaced with plywood for additional strength, and all load-bearing fittings have backing plates or large washers.

Deck styling has modern flowing lines providing sleek looks, inside and out, whilst maintaining the Oyster trademark and reputation for a light and airy deck saloon.

DECK FINISH Teak laid decks. Sanded (Sept 2018). Repaired as necessary (Apr 2023).

The hull to deck connection is achieved by the deck sitting on a return flange moulded into the hull.

Fore and aft coachroof tops and cockpit coamings finished in ‘White’ gelcoat, with ‘White’, non-slip deck paint applied to appropriate panels. Non-slip painting (new Sept/Oct 2025).

Deck edge incorporates a bulwark, which facilitates relatively flat side decks whilst providing a good foothold when working the yacht in a seaway. The top of this bulwark has a clean GRP finish, giving a modern and stylish ‘rolled’ edge, enhancing the yacht’s visual appearance with a graceful sheer line. Internal scupper drains along the deck edge, preventing the topsides from staining when decks are washed down.

KEEL High performance bulb (HPB) external lead shoal keel.

Keel visually inspected every haulout.

RUDDER Fully protected skeg-hung rudder.

Rudder visually inspected every haulout.
