2011 Hanse 455 | Lady Penelope
Lady Penelope is a well-presented 2011 Hanse 455, offering a superb balance of performance, space and comfort. Designed by Judel / Vrolijk & Co, this popular German-built model is highly regarded for offshore cruising, with strong structural integrity and sleek sailing lines.
Measuring 13.5m in length with a displacement of 11,700kg, Lady Penelope delivers confident handling with her fin keel (T-Speed deep draft), twin carbon wheels and a new Jefa rudder system (2024) with updated upper and lower bearings and Dyneema/wire steering cables. Powered by a Volvo Penta 55hp engine (2010), she cruises comfortably at 6 knots, reaching up to 8 knots under power.
Accommodation includes three double cabins, featuring an upgraded mattress in the master suite with an island V-berth, Ocean Air curtains and generous storage. The saloon is open and bright with seating for 6 at the dining table, plus additional seating on the L-shaped settee. The practical L-shaped galley includes ample bench space and storage for extended voyages. Headroom is approximately 1.95m throughout.
Lady Penelope is equipped for comfortable cruising with two bathrooms, hot/cold fresh water showers (including transom), two manual heads, two 30L holding tanks and a 30L hot water system (engine/electric). She also carries a spare main water pump and shower pump bellows.
Her systems are set up for distance cruising, including a generator, watermaker and a self-tacking headsail paired with additional sails. The hull is GRP with teak overlay in good condition, and antifouling was completed in September 2025 using Hemple Olympus ablative black. Fuel capacity is 230L, water capacity is 450L.
