Description

SIMPLE HARMONY II, Swan 75-004 is a beautifully appointed luxury performance cruiser. She has a generous hull form, giving her a gentle smooth passage in the water. The same hull shape provides a voluminous spacious interior, and her good size sail plan gives her impressive performance – also in light airs. She has a moderate draft keel which enables access to good harbours and anchorages. On deck and below she is an ideal family yacht – as both of her owners have found.

Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”.

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • The hull is a single skin construction using glass/aramid hybrid fibre reinforced polyester laminate with vinylester skincoats.
  • Stiffener flanges are unidirectional carbon fibre lay-ups on hollow double bias glass formers. A high proportion of the fibres are uni-directional, giving a stiff laminate with excellent strength and fatigue properties.
  • Stiffener flanges are reinforced with uni-directional carbon fibre lay-ups.
  • Stringers and web frames are pre-made hollow sections that allow them to be used for ventilation purposes or as cable conduits.
  • Engine beds are integrated into the stiffeners.
  • Structural bulkheads at the bow and stern are foam cored GRP, the mast bulkhead is a carbon fibre pre-preg, and the rest is marine plywood, and laminated to the hull and deck with foam strips in between.
  • Carbon fibre chain plates are bonded to the hull.
  • A recessed stainless steel chain plate for the headstay is bonded to the hull structure.
  • White gelcoat topside.
  • Dark blue boot top, cove stripe, and coaming stripe.
  • Deck is a sandwich construction, using glass/aramid hybrid fibre reinforced polyester laminate, with a low density closed cell foam core, and glued to the hull. There is a high-density core or solid laminate under the deck fittings.
  • New teak deck (11/12mm) – 2023 – done at the shipyard in Civitanova Marche and overseen by the captain.

Keel & Rudder:

  • Ballast 12,500kg / 27,600lb.

  • It has since been checked every two years (and last checked winter 2024-25).
