Description
For sale Meta 40 from 2004 Built by META shipyard in France and launched in 2006, beautiful travel motor sailor maintained by its sole owner.
It is a unit construction in Strongal aluminum from Naval Meta shipyards. It consumes about 5 liters per hour at 7 knots and sometimes less if the wind is downwind. Its very shallow draft opens the interior channels, moreover ballasted at the bottom of the hull, it is certified according to the category of construction A which authorizes it the great oceanic cruising. The secure central cockpit allows for a very large owner's cabin at the rear. The kitchen and dining area are in the deck saloon, which gives a perfect view on the outside. The large and spacious forward cabin berths and navigator's berth are down below.

ENGINES
Propulsion
Two Volvo D2-75A turbocharged diesel engines coupled to Sail drives. This choice was made to obtain a minimum of vibrations.
High efficiency 19" Brenton Autoprop propellers with auto variable pitch. Two 18-inch fixed pitch aluminum spare propellers.
Engine control by Kobelt cables on both cockpits.
Monitoring of the engines by Volvo panels, speed of rotation, oil and temperature alarms.
Accelerometers mounted on each engine to monitor vibrations (plastics in the propellers)
Running hours : 3 300 H
>> Maxprop 1500W bow thruster. Control on each cockpit.
TANKS AND FUEL TRIAGE
The system is made up of three independent tanks all with their own level gauge. Two main tanks of 1500 liters and a day tank of 90 liters. For 2400 miles the filling of a 1500 liter tank at the beginning of the summer is largely sufficient. In addition, a system of valves and a transfer pump allows the boat to be ballasted between the two tanks if necessary. The transfer pump is also used to transfer the necessary fuel to the day tank every day where a small recycling pump filters the fuel through a large Racor filter. This ensures that the engines always have very clean fuel. This very efficient device is particularly useful for offshore cruising.
ELECTRICITY
Installation particularly studied for safety and compatibility with an aluminum hull
Electrical panels
Two independent electrical panels.
220V external power panel located in the aft cabin (possibility of 110V wiring). Safety switch, differential circuit breaker, 3kWA isolation transformer (1.5kWA if wired in 110V), galvanic isolator, ammeter indicator, secondary circuit breakers for the battery charger and the few 220V (110V) outlets distributed in the boat.
12 V power panel located under the interior cockpit in the front part of the boat.
Victron service battery charge controller, Victron solar panel MMPT controller, thermal-magnetic circuit breakers on all 12V elements grouped by families.
Batteries and Charger
8 batteries 12V 110 A. One starting battery per engine, four service batteries, two batteries in parallel for the windlass and bow thruster. Batteries changed in 2024. Dolphin 80A charger.
A combination of five low-loss splitters (MOS) allows for distributed charging of all batteries regardless of the master source (charger, engines or solar panels).
Pumps of call
TANKS
The fuel tanks divide the boat into two independent hulls, so there are two hull pumps.
Water tanks, black water tank
Fresh water tanks
Three independent polyethylene tanks (thickness 10mm) of 160litres each filled through a set of valves allowing the possible isolation of one of them. The filling is done through a particle filter and an activated carbon filter. Jabsco pressurization pump.
Black water, treatment.
This boat is equipped with a sophisticated black water treatment system. For this purpose the toilets are equipped with Vacuflush vacuum toilets, only 0.5 liters of water per flush. The black water is then treated by a Lectrasan electrolyser. The material thus rendered bacteriologically inactive is returned to the 160L polyethylene black water tank equipped with a level gauge (by pressure measurement). Moreover, the pump associated with this gauge allows the oxygenation of the tank in order to limit the development of anaerobic bacteria. This tank allows one week of use with three people before emptying. The emptying in authorized area is done towards the outside by a dedicated internal transfer pump or by external pumping in the ports.

Rig
SLOOP RIG
Z spare rig, single strand 8mm rigging
Self-tacking track and Harken cart for the jib
Sheets and cleats
All cockpit maneuvers
Two-tone lights at masthead, running light, anchor light, deck light, all low power LED
VEGA SAILS
>> Regularly overhauled by Delta voiles
MAINSAIL : initially 17 m2, increased by about 2 m2 in 2010. Two automatic reefing bands. Reefing on Harken ball rails
JIB : On furler and self-tacking track, 19 m2
GENNAKER : On furler, 30 m2
CAP Sail : Delta Voiles. To limit the navigation on the anchor in strong wind, it was developed a unique system of two twin sails (3 m2) (forming a tetrahedron) mounted on a furler which is rigged on the starboard backstay
According to the administrative formulas Arion is officially a sailboat. Nevertheless this sail must be considered as a support sail. However, in good downwind conditions, it ensures a significant speed approaching 6 knots.
The joint use of the two modes of propulsion, sail/motor, by the play of the two different moments of inertia gives this very defended boat a remarkable sea keeping.
WINCHES
2 X HARKEN on the mast
2 X HARJEN for the headsails in the cockpit

GREEMENT SLOOP
VOILES MARQUE VEGA VOILES
>> Régulièrement révisées par Delta voiles
GRANDE VOILE : initialement 17 m2, augmentée de 2 m2 environ en 2010. Deux bandes de ris automatiques. Raling sur rails à billes Harken
FOC : Sur enrouleur et rail auto vireur, 19 m2
GENNAKER : Sur emmagasineur, 30 m2
VOILE DE CAP : Delta Voiles.
