ACCOMMODATIONS & LAYOUT DESCRIPTIONS:
The Valiant 42 center entry companionway with a queen V-berth stateroom forward is the classic most popular Valiant 42 layout. For good reason, this layout gives you a perfect two-stateroom vessel with a single head and stall shower located aft at the companionway. It gives you a truly magnificent galley, spacious salon, sit down navigation station, and a dedicated engine room. The build quality is robust, crafted with the rigors of the ocean foremost in mind. You will see the heavily built quality everywhere from the locking floor boats to the cabinetry.
The Walkthrough -Starting Forward, The Queen V-berth stateroom has an extra wide queen sized berth, extremely comfortable guest quarters. There is a chain locker in the forepeak with space to pull the extra chain back under the berth. Under the berth, there are two deep drawers with additional storage for or storm sails and other seldom needed spares. The hull sides are finished with Ash battens and there are three roomy cabinets on each side. A reading light and a book shelf port and starboard give perfect individual space for each occupant of this spacious double berth. Two large cedar lined drawers under the berth roll out easily. There is a small locker to port with a seat bench and a larger hanging locker and a bench seat to starboard. There are two large Lewmar opening screened hatch overhead which provides superior ventilation, directly over the berth. Two Hood Stainless Steel screened Ports add to the light and wonderful air circulation in the Queen V-Berth. The bi-fold Teak door which separates the V-berth from the main saloon, provides privacy with dressing space in the cabin.
The Salon: Moving aft to the main salon, the salon is extremely spacious with a traditional centerline drop-leaf table that folds out to seat six There is a deep storage area on the table top with lift ring and teak cover. The settees to port and starboard, equipped with lee cloths, make excelling sea berths. There is storage behind the settees, and water tanks below. There is cabinetry and shelves outboard. The main salon is light and well ventilated with six opening ports and a large hatches as well two smaller hatches and cabin fans and dorades.
The salon has a lovely warm teak woodwork and cabinets in pristine condition and a beautiful teak and holly cabin sole. The cabin house sides and ceiling are a soft cream Formica with Teak trim and of course you can easily remove the panels to get to anything. The stainless steel ports are all opening ports so ventilation is great.. The Lewmar ocean hatches provide excellent ventilation.. The full length L-shaped settee to port, is a perfect sea berth with storage outboard of the settee and large cabinet at the aft end of the settee with double shelves the full length.
The Galley Following the main saloon on the port side, is a classic OFFSHORE designed “U” shaped galley, that will delight the gourmet, whether at sea or dockside. The galley is one of the most important aspects of a great cruising boat and the Valiant 42 has a galley coveted by all cruisers because it has everything you need including the Valiant pantry! There is a commodious, properly insulated 9 cubic foot reefer/freezer, 4-burner Propane Gimballed stove and oven, double stainless steel sink, more custom cabinetry, generous counter space, hot & cold pressure water, filtered drinking water, manual salt water pump, slide out trash bin, spice rack and ample storage in drawers, below sink cabinetry and in counter top lockers.
The propane stove is outboard with dish storage and cupboards outboard and additional storage below. Forward is the freezer and the refrigerator with additional counter space, a flatware drawer, and trash bin. At the aft facing side are three drawers, double stainless sink with storage under, and deep dry storage outboard. There is a large cabinet above the sink and a bulkhead mounted spice rack.
To starboard is the most unique pantry on any sailing vessel of this size. There are 4 deep, slide out shelves with locks with storage cabinet over and locking louvered door for ventilation.
There is an opening port and overhead hatch with screens in the galley for optimum ventilation. This award winning galley layout is well known in the cruising community and the galley on “KALLITHEA” is the social center while preparing gourmet meals, even underway.
The Navigation Station Opposite the galley and to starboard is a large, proper forward facing “navigators station” and “ships command center”, with tremendous room for the exceptional compliment of electronic navigation and communication equipment and chart book storage, in addition to the well laid out electrical panel. The desk lid opens for flat chart and cruising chart books, there is a drawer at centerline with LARGE storage cabinet under. Storage is also found under the nav seat and outboard under the electrical panels. There is a screened opening port for light and ventilation. Alpenglow lights, some with both day and red night vision lights with low amperage halogen bulb lights are found at the nav station and throughout the boats interior.
The Aft Stateroom Immediately aft of the galley and just to port of the main center entry companionway, there is a double berth with two drawers, hanging locker & dressing seat with storage under and is a comfortable cabin for two, plus a perfect sea berth for the off watch crew, as they can be comfortably sleeping just 3’ from the cockpit, if they are needed quickly.
When you have guests, this cabin becomes a nice double berth with privacy as it has a door and a folding panel, that when open, provides light and air, and when closed up, provides complete privacy. There are two screened opening ports and an overhead hatch for wonderful light and air ventilation.
The Head Directly to starboard of the centerline companionway, is the offshore designed head, handy to the cockpit, with a Raritan PHII forward facing toilet. The head is located starboard adjacent to the companionway and is the ideal design in a offshore passageway. The stall shower makes a perfect wet locker on a passage with a hanging locker outboard of the shower. Large counter space with oval stainless sink with a great deal of storage under and in the Teak cabinets’ outboard. The head bi-fold privacy door works well and there is a clothes hamper locker. There is a permanent wet locker behind the shower seat, a teak grate underfoot and a screened port for ventilation. The separate shower area is curtained and separate from the rest of the head.
Shelves with locker doors align the toilet area side above the counter and S.S. sink has a large storage cabinet under. Behind the toilet is a large door which gives you easy access to the engine room. There are 2 more screened port in this area, one of which goes to the cockpit area.
There are 12 Hood stainless steel ports throughout the cabin, all with bug screens, and seven Lewmar hatches providing excellent ventilation for the entire interior
