The 1994 Hunter Legend 40.5 “Kaija” is a classic American-built cruising sailboat located in Salinas, United States, ideally set up for Caribbean adventures or coastal liveaboard life. Generator: Predator 2000W super quiet gasoline powered generator purchased 2025
Solar: 2 x 195w bifacial Eco-worthy solar panels installed over the dinghy dahvits
Solar was professionally installed with 6 & 10 AWG, fed into a 10A 4 string combiner box with space for 2 more panel expansion in the future, solar charges the lithium house battery bank with a 30 amp app controlled VEVOR MPPT charge controller, battery levels are monitored with an app controlled Victron smart shunt, and power is inverted to AC with a VEVOR Pure Sine Wave 3500 watt inverter, switch between AC and DC at the rotary switch in the cockpit battery locker
AC Power System: AC shore power charges the house batteries with an 80A VEVOR RV converter and a NOCO 2A 12V trickle charger keeps the (new in 2025) 12V starting battery topped off. Underway charging from the 80A alternator (new in 2025) is achieved via a Victron Orion Smart DC-DC 50A charger that tops off the house bank through the starting battery and allows for battery monitoring of both battery systems. AC Shore power is 120V 30A. A new 50 ft 125V 30A shore power cord was purchased in 2025.

Interior Comforts and Amenitie


Stove: gimballed princess 3 burner range and oven in good condition that has recently had the LPG regulator serviced, cooking fuel is propane, supplied from a dedicated self-draining locker with an all-new tank, solenoid, and supply hose, with shut off at dedicated locker
Refrigerator and Freezer:12V Adler Barbour top loading freezer and front/ top loading refrigerator, seals all replaced Spring 2025 and compressor serviced with full refrigerant replacement Winter 2024
Water Heater: Seaward S600 6-gallon 120V 1500W. Pressure relief valve replaced Fall 2024.
Water Filter: in line dual filter with dedicated tap installed at galley sink Spring 2025 *tanks shocked and in line filtration system disassembled for long term storage
Air Conditioner: Dometic 16,000 BTU Envirocomfort unit for saloon and 7,000 BTU unit for master cabin, units can be retrofitted to reverse cycle for heat in the future, serviced February 2025 with full refrigerant replacement and new raw water hoses from intake to discharge
Lighting: interior recessed lighting replaced with color changing low power LED lights in 2025
Stateroom Mattress: replaced Fall 2024 with brand new memory foam mattress and custom bamboo cooling cover
Spanish Cork wall coverings: vinyl foamback in both cabins, as well as accents in galley, replaced with custom Dutch metal and Spanish cork wall coverings
Smart TV and Wifi: Roku TV installed in Saloon and Starlink installed on stern rail for high-speed internet and streaming

Accommodations

There are two private berths and two full heads. The forward V Berth sleeps 2 and includes a full private head portside. Saloon settees sleep 3 comfortably. Dining table was removed and a new compression post fabricated, giving the saloon a spacious modern open layout with a settee that can comfortably sit 4-6 adults. The aft master stateroom includes an oversized berth that can sleep 3. Full starboard aft head has full walk through from stateroom to galley/ saloon as well as an entrance from the galley on the port side.

Water: 4 tanks, 110-gallon total, 30-gal plastic below V berth, below port and starboard saloon soles 20 gal each plastic, beneath starboard lazarette locker 40 gal plastic

Dinghy

Tender: 2013 West Marine RIB 310 fiberglass single floor inflatable boat, 10ft 2in length, PVC material, 1144lb capacity, 113 lb dry weight. Condition is fair/ moderate but serviceable and tested. HIN WMPWA006K213 Serial No OR606685
Outboard: 2013 Mercury 9.9HP EFI tiller four-stroke 15’ shaft, dry weight 88-97lb. Fully serviced in the last 100 hours and dry stored for most of its life, Forespar lift on portside stern rail hoists the outboard to and from the rail mount.
