Description
1994 Freedom 35 ROCINANTE – Exceptionally Updated,
Turn-Key Cruiser
( FRESHWATER SAIL IN TILL 1 YEAR AGO)
This 1994 Freedom 35 is a rare opportunity to own a thoughtfully upgraded, well-maintained example of one of the most respected free-standing mast cruising designs ever built. Known for its simple sail handling, solid construction, and comfortable motion at sea, the Freedom 35 is an ideal yacht for both short-handed coastal cruising and extended passagemaking.
This vessel has benefited from extensive recent upgrades that make her truly turn-key. The hull was professionally repainted with Awlgrip approximately four years ago, giving her a clean, modern appearance, and the bottom was freshly done last year. The rig has been improved with the addition of a stack pack for easy sail handling, along with a new jib sail, keeping the sail plan fresh and efficient.
Below decks, comfort and reliability have been a priority. The boat features a new factory refrigerator and a new factory air conditioning unit, providing modern conveniences rarely found on boats of this vintage. Electrical independence has been enhanced with new solar panels and a solar charge controller, ideal for cruising and extended time at anchor.
At the helm, the boat is equipped with an all-new B&G electronics suite, including chart plotter, radar, and AIS-enabled VHF radio (send and receive), offering excellent situational awareness and navigation confidence. A new autopilot has also been installed, making long passages and short-handed sailing effortless. Engine instrumentation has been integrated into the NMEA network, providing clean, centralized monitoring.
Mechanically, the vessel has been carefully maintained. The engine was fully serviced last week, including the installation of a new water impeller. Bilge safety has been upgraded with larger-capacity bilge pumps, adding another layer of peace of mind underway or at anchor.
With classic Freedom design, modern systems, and extensive recent upgrades, this Freedom 35 stands out as a well-cared-for, thoughtfully improved cruiser that’s ready to sail away today.
