Owners Introduction :-
Built in 1990 Ghost Rider was the third Frers 45 to be built in Bristol, Rhode Island, USA by Carrol Marine. Her mast is 6 feet shorter than the racing variant and she has a solid fibre glass hull over an aluminium frame. Her decks are a balsa/fibre glass sandwich, which has needed some work in small areas. She had light use by the original owner and I imported her in 2016 from Sackets Harbor, New York state, where she had been on the hard for at least 5 years.
All instruments had to be replaced, but the sails are a set of original Hood sails and are still in good condition. She was fitted with a new Yanmar 44 hp (4JH45) diesel in May 2019, which now has 400 hours and has been regularly serviced.
She was certified in accordance with the Recreational Craft Directive and rated category A (Open Ocean). She has safely taken us to the Canaries and back, and two seasons in the Caribbean. A well balanced boat under sail she now has a new rudder, made in Martinique (Jan 24), which has made the helm even lighter.

Owners Summary:-
She is comfortable to live on, and fast to sail, but slab reefing and running backstays mean you need to know what you are doing and be relatively fit to get the best out of her. Her deep keel (2.5m) and skeg rudder means she turns quickly, and her 4.2m beam makes her fast down wind (19.5 kts record held by my wife).
