Description
AIZU is a 98’ (30.18m) high-performance sailing yacht designed with sailing performance at the core and a configuration that works exceptionally well for both private cruising and charter. Delivered in 1989 by the respected French yard Tréhard Marine in Antibes, she was conceived as a serious blue-water cruiser with the strength, balance and speed to cross oceans comfortably, while still being practical in shallow cruising grounds.
AIZU’s design translates naturally to charter use. Four equal double staterooms suit groups of friends or families, while her shallow draft opens up shallow-water destinations typically reserved for charter catamarans, all while offering far superior offshore capability and seaworthiness. This versatility makes AIZU an attractive option for buyers considering charter as part of their ownership model, with real potential to offset running costs through charter activity.
AIZU has benefited from consistent care and several refit periods, most notably a major refit completed in 2023, following earlier upgrades in 2007, 2019, 2020 and 2022. This latest refit brought her fully up to modern expectations, including a refreshed interior with new American black walnut flooring, updated systems and a clean, minimalist aesthetic. New sails were added in 2019, and she is currently completing her five-year survey with a full rig service, leaving her in genuine turn-key condition.
COMMENTS
Aizu was built in 1989 by the French Trehard Marine shipyards, rebuilt in 2005 and, refitted in 2022. She has 4 well-appointed cabins for restful nights at anchor. A contemporary ambiance is achieved with abundant use of natural wood and premium materials. Aizu‘s highlight is the retractable keel giving the option of a minimal draft of 2.2 meters for shallow port and coastal anchorage while providing plenty of stability and superior sailing performance during sailing with the keel fully opened!
