Description
Aluminium boats are ideal for those seeking durability and long-term reliability, thanks to their structural strength, light weight, ease of repair, corrosion resistance, and fire safety. SY Letafet is one of only three yachts built in 1987 at the Oland Brothers shipyard in Denmark. Constructed in aluminium, she offers advantages in both performance and fuel efficiency, making her a true bluewater sailing yacht.
Upon boarding, the teak-lined cockpit immediately stands out. The large leather-covered steering wheel is designed for ease of handling during manoeuvres. The cockpit sits relatively close to the waterline and is well protected. Four people can comfortably gather around the portable table for socialising. The side decks are wide and finished with high bulwarks. The hull and deck were completely repainted in September 2025, during which the non-slip deck areas were also redesigned.
The yacht is equipped with an aluminium mast, boom, and spinnaker boom. In August 2025, these components were serviced in a workshop, where all fittings were removed and repainted. All standing and running rigging was renewed by Moss Rigging, and the renewal report will be shared with prospective buyers. In August 2025, UK Sail serviced and inspected the sail inventory, which includes one mainsail, two Genoas, one storm sail, and two spinnakers. A new lazy bag and lazy jack system have been ordered and will be installed once the final colour has been selected by the potential buyer. Also, a new mast collar has been ordered and is currently being manufactured.
During the same period, the rudder was removed and serviced, and both the rudder bearing and steering cables were replaced. The windlass was serviced in the workshop and reinstalled, and its brand-new remote control is located in the fore locker.
Access from the cockpit to the pilothouse is through a renewed three-piece teak door. Inside the pilothouse, there is an autopilot control unit, a next-generation chart plotter, and a backup GPS plotter. This spacious area offers a full 360-degree view and provides excellent protection for the crew in rough weather. Four people can comfortably sit on the watch seats located on the starboard and port side benches. All flooring throughout the yacht, including the pilothouse, has been renewed by us.
Directly beneath the pilothouse is a large engine room. During the recent refit period, a newly overhauled and powerful 75 HP Yanmar 4JH4-TE diesel engine was installed. The engine is coupled with a ZF30M gearbox and connected to a Max-Prop propeller via the shaft. At the same time, the Volvo deep seal and P-bracket cutlass bearings were renewed. The engine currently has zero operating hours. Throttle and gear control cables have been replaced. All engine electrical systems and fuel/plumbing lines have been renewed, the fuel tank has been cleaned, and a new fuel gauge has been installed inside the tank. Additionally, the boiler was serviced in the workshop and reinstalled. The generator is currently being serviced right now. The Tecnicomar watermaker has been fully serviced. The pump, motor, and membranes have been renewed and replaced with an Italian Annovi Reverberi pump and Ravel motor.
Two steps down from the pilothouse lead to the saloon. On the starboard side, there is a U-shaped seating area with a table that comfortably accommodates eight people. On the port side, there is a straight, I-shaped galley, a diesel stove, and a chart table. The galley is practical and offers ample storage space. The galley and head counter tops have been renewed with Corian surfaces. The oven and diesel heater have been fully serviced and are ready for use. A new refrigerator (compressor, thermostat, and control panel) has recently been added to the yacht’s inventory.
Forward, there is a cabin with two single berths, and aft, there are two double cabins. The aft cabin mattresses have been renewed. The yacht has one toilet/shower compartment. The head, located near the forward cabin, was completely renovated in September 2025, and a 44-litre holding tank was installed in this area.
There is no corrosion on the hull, and insulation is present in both the saloon bilge and ceiling areas. This ensures that the interior temperature remains at a comfortable level, even on the hottest days.
The antifouling paint and zinc anodes were renewed in October 2025, after which the yacht was relaunched. She is currently moored at Marmaris Yacht Marina and is ready for immediate sailing.
This yacht represents an excellent opportunity for sailors planning long-distance cruising or extended liveaboard use. She is well-prepared and ready for her next owner.
