This well kept, three owner example is “correct” from the top of her cutter rig to the bottom of her cruising keel…equipped and outfitted as a circumnavigator, easily maintained & sailed by 2 people.
It is obvious that this yacht has been cherished from new.
This sturdy double ender boasts both seaworthiness and ample interior space and offers steady and comfortable cruising. Below the water line, the hull incorporates a fine entry with a long cutaway forefoot, followed by a keel hung rudder. Comprehensively equipped, she has an equipment inventory that lets you move aboard & begin your cruise ... she’s ready to take you on the voyage of a lifetime.

The listing broker has said in his many years of experience, he’s seen few yachts he would consider Bristol. “CONCH TOWN LADY” is such a yacht.
ACCOMMODATIONS & LAYOUT:
If you dream of sailing and living on a true offshore yacht with "wooden boat" charm but with AMERICAN built fiberglass construction and features better than that found on "production" boats, then “CONCH TOWN LADY” will appeal to you. So many custom features make her a very strong, safe, comfortable, easy to sail and dry home afloat, incorporating a masterful blend of intimate space and a feeling of openness. “CONCH TOWN LADY” is ideal for two people to sail and live aboard very comfortably anywhere in the world. She also sails with a very secure and "seakindly" feel and can take more than most of her crew can!
The most important feature of this bluewater yacht is that she is in EXCELLENT CONDITION, near perfection cosmetically, and is as clean as a whistle. “CONCH TOWN LADY” has been owned for 15 years by her current owner and a careful inspection will reveal the considerable extent and quality of attention to details, workmanship and gear, which her owner, a successful executive has lavished on her. His technical and organizational skills and his keenness for zeroing in and focusing on the tiniest details, has culminated in a yacht that is pristine, bluewater equipped and which literally begs to be let free from her dock lines.
THE OWNERS DO NOT WEAR SHOES BELOW…another point of the care taken and the condition of “CONCH TOWN LADY”.
Headroom is 6’4” throughout the boat and storage capacity can only be noted as “incredible”. Beautiful teak joinery throughout, teak doors throughout are hand fitted. There are water tanks to starboard and under settees and storage under, both port and starboard.
Above is a large, two-way opening hatch for light and ventilation, with custom teak framed mosquito netting.
Aft of the main salon and to starboard, is the classic “wrap around” “U” shape configured, offshore safe galley, that will delight the gourmet, whether at sea or dockside, with rack and flatware storage, extensive lockers, large dry storage bin,

LIBERTY 38’ FROM THE MANUFACTURER/BUILDER
The LIBERTY 38 is a full keel, canoe stern cruising boat of moderately heavy displacement. The design incorporates features that have evolved from generations of seagoing yachts.
She has a springy sheer which is both handsome and functional. It is refreshing to see a more traditional style in this era of straight sheer lines, fixed plastic portlights and an obsession with ratings for the so called “racer/cruiser”.
In the design of the Liberty 38, no thought was given to any artificial rating rules devised in an attempt to equate all boats. This is not to say performance was not considered. Quite the contrary. Our priorities were structural integrity, seakindliness, performance and beauty. The LIBERTY 38 is a masterful blend of these qualities.
Hull and deck construction is all hand laminated fiberglass, carefully rolled and squeegied to obtain the optimum glass to resin ratio. We use a very low wax resin to obtain strong interlaminar bonds as well as excellent secondary bonding of bulkheads, stringers and other reinforcements. This type of resin, is shunned by production builders, because greater skill is required in its use and it does not lend itself to rapid mold turn-around times.
While there are some highly regarded designers who are having a lot to say about building decks as lightly as possible, we don’t agree. Anyone who has spent much time at sea and has experienced the awesome force of tons of sea water crashing onto his deck, could not subscribe to such a design philosophy. Accordingly, we build our decks to withstand such violence. After all, we build ocean cruising yachts, not “around the buoys” club racers. All this extra strength built into our hulls and decks means extra weight. You will notice our displacement is a little heavier than most boats of comparable size. There are pros and cons to increased displacement. It is widely accepted that a heavier boat will not accelerate as quickly in light air, but on the other hand, she won’t be slowed or stopped by choppy head seas. The motion of a well designed boat of moderate displacement is much kinder to both the crew and the vessel.
The seakindliness of a canoe stern, full keel vessel is known. Combine this hull with a modern cutter rig of ample sail area, a carefully designed deck arrangement, comfortable interior with adequate storage, dependable mechanical systems, and you have a superb cruising boat. The Liberty 38’ is such a boat. All sailors do not do the same type of sailing. Some make long passages alone or with a companion. Others cruise with their families or friends. Many sailors prefer coastal or island cruiging. Obviously, a single interior arrangement would not be suitable for such diverse interests. We design and build the interior for each owner or a custom basis. The design is arrived at, after much consultation. Most sailors have ideas of features they would like to incorporate into their next boat. Some are based on experience with previous boats, some are from boats they have seen. Whatever the source, we will integrate those ideas into a functional, beautifully finished yacht. Such is the case with “Conch Town Lady”.
Liberty Yachts is a small company, founded in 1975 by the designer of the Liberty 28 and Liberty 38, Joe Fennell. Our philosophy is simple: start with a good design, build it carefully and ruggedly, equip it well, using the best quality hardware and equipment.
