Design & Comfort
The Kodiak 30 is a purposeful cruising design, known for her full keel and strong directional stability, providing a steady, confidence-inspiring ride both under sail and power. The pilothouse design makes her well suited for longer passages, while below deck she offers a comfortable, practical interior with a proper galley, enclosed head, generous storage, and sensible tankage. It’s a layout designed for time aboard — whether cruising for weeks at a stretch or living aboard — combining functionality, comfort, and the reassuring motion that experienced cruisers appreciate.
She offers the rare combination of sailing ability, dependable power cruising, and true liveaboard functionality in a manageable 30-foot platform.
A Golden Opportunity
With a new engine, modern electronics, watermaker, and serious cold storage, this Kodiak 30 is positioned as a turn-key cruiser — equally suited for coastal exploration, island hopping, or extended passage-making.
If you’re looking for a capable motorsailer that has already received the upgrades that matter most, this vessel represents exceptional value and cruising readiness.
Additional Information
The layout is different than the plan, the person that built it changed the layout. I’ll explain it.
In the Bow of the boat is a decent size V birth, I’m 6 feet and have room to spare at my head and feet. Underneath is sail locker and other storage. There is a step up to the V birth with storage in the step. Beside the V birth there is a hanging locker on both sides with a shelf on top and wall mounted reading lights on both sides. There is also 2 rectangle port holes on both sides above the beds with screens, an emergency escape hatch above with a window in it, and a door to the V birth.
To Starboard is the head with a small sink that slides out above the toilet with storage underneath. Beside that is a separate shower and the black water tank is built in into that shower and makes a seat inside the shower.
To Port outside of the cabin is the kitchen with a 3 burner propane stove/oven (no gimble) and storage underneath and behind the stove. Next to that is a drawer with cupboard underneath built into the counter, there is storage at the back of the counter underneath the deck, next is a icebox, and then the sink on a small L shaped counter, after that are 4 very large long drawers with a shelf for storage on top.
Back to Starboard after the shower is an open space where the fridge is mounted with storage underneath and above the fridge is the on demand propane hot water. Behind the fridge there is also storage. Also in this space is some of the navigation equipment.
Continuing to Starboard 2 steps up (with storage in the steps) into the pilot house is the Helm with a sliding door to exit the boat , there is a seat mounted onto of a cabinet for the helm and underneath is room for tools and spare parts.
On the port side once you are in the pilot house is a dinette with storage under each seat and a fold down table that makes a single wide birth. there is also storage under decks on either side.
Behind the pilot house is a covered cockpit (with full enclosure) at the same floor level as the pilot house, in the cockpit is a U shape bench with a cushion around the cockpit with storage under all the benches. There is no Helm in the cockpit.
