Description
Up for sale is a much-loved sailing home, "Storm Girl." A 1979 Savage 42, and a wonderful well-kept example of Jack Savage's centre-cockpit bluewater cruising masterpiece.
Comfortable cruisers, Savages are true blue water cruising boats, and this is fully proved by the many nautical miles Storm Girl has travelled with her current owners during their 20 years of ownership. The owners have had a change of plans, so they're open to a quick sale and looking for a new custodian for their "girl" at an extremely fair price.
Being a full-time liveaboard means she hasn't just been sitting in a marina. She has miles beneath her keel and adventures to tell of her journeys through Indonesia, Australia, and Thailand. Living on board means staying on top of things, so this isn't a project that will eat up your weekends. Systems are used regularly, sails are raised, the engine is used and checked, and everything is functional because it has to be! The Mainsail is nearly new (2024), the rigging is in service, and the engine has low hours.
At 42 feet, she's a proper, solid boat with that classic Savage pedigree. There's plenty of space to stretch out, two dry and cozy cabins, and an honest, practical feel throughout. Her aft cabin can be accessed via the internal starboard passageway or directly from the centre cockpit. Her hard top bimini stretches over the entire cockpit, protecting from rain and shine, and there are drop-down Sunbrella shade covers to roll up and down as needed, on passage or at anchor.
"Storm Girl" is currently berthed at Rebak Marina in Langkawi, and it's one of the best spots in Malaysia to keep a boat.
Why is Rebak so good? Well... It's on its own private island, so it's incredibly peaceful and secure. You get that away-from-it-all feel, but you're only a 7-minute ferry ride from the mainland at Cenang. The marina is part of the Rebak Island Resort, and marina residents have access to all the facilities: a resort pool, private beach, tennis courts, and a gym. There's a bar and restaurant right there, including the poolside bar—perfect for a sunset beer.
It's a major stopover for international yachties, so all services are covered. It's duty-free, so importing items for your boat comes with no extra Customs complications. Plus, you've got watersports, jungle trekking on the island, and incredible wildlife like hornbills and sea eagles right on your doorstep.
If you're after a ready-to-go liveaboard or a cruiser without the drama, get in touch with us at Seaspray Yacht Sales in Langkawi. We look forward to introducing you to Storm Girl.
