The Shannon 38 Ketch is recognized as one of the world’s best sailboats. Equally adept at sailing around the bay or around the world, she is a long distance blue water cruiser. The boat is easy to sail by a solo sailor, couple or family. She is comfortable even in the most challenging conditions and offers good stability with speed and upwind performance. Shannon Boat Co. earned a reputation for building some of the finest offshore sailing yachts in the world. Shannon's New England craftsmen built to the highest quality specifications, creating a yacht without compromise.
A true blue water boat, Annabelle has been to Portugal, Germany and the Med. Current (3rd) owner purchased in 2015, single handed her on the Great Loop last year (shipping the masts ahead) and is ready for the next boat.
Annabelle is a cutter-rigged ketch, which allows for multiple headsails, in this case a larger jib and staysail, which provide enhanced versatility. The combination of both rig types offers excellent balance and makes it easier to handle sails, particularly for short-handed crews or when tacking and sailing downwind. This rig configuration can adapt well to different wind conditions, making it quite suitable for cruising and longer passages. The mizzen mast helps to lower the center of gravity, enhancing stability, which is beneficial in rough seas
