FROM THE SELLERS:
We bought Kasidah in ‘05 in CT from a great previous owner and sailed her to Lake Ontario, we learned what a great boat she is right away. Knowing we were headed out cruising we rebuilt and added many custom things to her at the time. I have been a self- employed electrician for over 30 years, and working on boats most of my life I spent all of one winter in NY on the hard adding all new wiring, panels, batteries, charger/inverter and control of every little thing onboard, All new instruments, custom cabinets below, ground tackle, tanks and too much more to add here. My wife loves to sew, so all new cushions, bedding foam and many outside covers for everything were added. The large cockpit got a makeover adding new storage areas where there was hidden space, cockpit shower, a better proper propane locker, fuel polishing system and 2nd fuel filter. Just before we left there was an article written about us living on Kasidah called “27 days and counting”, in the magazine “Live Aboard”. Photos of Kasidah have also appeared in the “Latts and Atts” magazine in a Sales ad for “The Filter Boss” of the installation I did with several photos. I even had an article published by Bob Bitchin about her name in his magazine.
AS we traveled south in our 1st year we installed more on her in the Chesapeake, including the custom davit system, AIS, radar, Wind, Solar, the water maker. We have now been spending our winters on her in the Bahamas and leaving her in Florida for the summers.
Kasidah is probably the most equipped and best maintained 36C still around and ready to go. She is not the fastest boat out there, but she will take and handle more than you. Then when we do pull into our port of destination, people always come to look and admire her first. She is a Classic Plastic.
Because of her flush deck and design, you will not find another boat of this size and price with as much space below with an aft cabin for 2 people with private access to the head. We love her large cockpit as it’s more like another room with an over-sized dodger and full curtains to keep those bad days outside. She handles docking very well with her prop walk in reverse, which is offset by her large stern hung rudder. The mechanics of steering being under the rear seat in the cockpit means you’ll NEVER have to crawl under a bunk or locker to access a steering quadrant or issue. Because the rudder is hung off the stern you can back her straight for any distance you want or need. Because of the keel, prop walk and rudder design she can be turned around inside her own length if needed. Piloting her from the very large cockpit is very comfortable with all her instruments and big wheel. Because the companionway is not centered but offset you will look straight out from your station through the dodger opening with great visibility. I will miss piloting her the most.
Every fall as we get onboard we find a project and do it. Those in recent years are;
All new standing rigging, day tank, galley and head modifications, cockpit bonuses, Engine maintenance, the bright work, and of course the bottom work. The deck is solid and sound with no soft spots as many older boats have because I have gone after all deck fittings. We have a routine for our maintenance on her to keep her dry and pretty. Her 3 cylinder Westerbeke has total access and is very easy to work on.
We are currently enjoying our last season onboard Kasidah in the Bahamas. We are planning to be stateside in Titusville FL in April.
