Description
1967 Spencer 42 "Seawind"
It seems that the Seawind affords several advantages to a first-time buyer. It comes with written instructions for operation and troubleshooting. These owner-compiled manuals include sketches, photos, and diagrams describing the workings of all the boat's systems. This would be invaluable for understanding how things work and troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and engine coolant problems if they were to arise. Seawind could also serve as a comfortable live aboard. It has a cozy sleeping berth, head with a composting toilet, cooking/baking range, refrigeration, cabin heating and abundant storage lockers; everything in working order. Additionally in 2022/2023 the head and main sails were repaired and all the weather protection canvas was replaced. This is a turnkey boat that is ready to return to the San Juan Islands for adventure or provide a secure home for someone wanting to simplify their life. Freshwater moorage is transferable and live aboard available with approval of new tenant by marina management.
Sail into adventure with this classic Spencer 42 sailboat, a proven cruiser ready for its next voyage! The Spencer 42 is known for its solid construction, seaworthiness, and comfortable design, perfect for long journeys or weekend getaways. This Spencer has been well-maintained with the current owner being a professional rigging expert. Powered by a reliable and relatively quiet Perkins 4.107 diesel motor. Nicely appointed galley has a sink, refrigerated icebox, stove/oven combo on a gimbal fed by two propane tanks with a remote switch as well as great counter space. The head features a sink and a composting head. Spacious v-berth has a hanging locker and several drawers. Aft of the v-berth and across from the head is another closet for additional storage. Included are 2 spinnakers and a spinnaker pole in addition to the main sail and genoa. Has a Xantrex Freedom 2000 inverter/charger for the house batteries. Electrical panels are clearly labelled and have simple operating instructions to get even the most novice sailor safely out on the water. Many manuals and reference materials are included, the owner even put together a general reference binder for all the boats systems with diagrams, schematics, and photos to ensure future maintenance is a breeze.
