Description
Carvel Gaff Rigged Sailing Yacht, launched 1926, SOUTHERN CROSS is now exclusively for sale with DBY Boat Sales.
A classic yacht such as this one does not come up for sale very often. The current owner and ships master has owned Southern Cross since 1990, completing multiple coastal passages and journeys. She is a very well known and respected classic wooden yacht in Australian waters.
The eye catching first look and the head turning thereafter says she is a pearl. There are few yachts crafted to this level anymore. Maintained throughout her years, with the most recent and extensive rebuild in 2012, the yacht is ultimately, as good as new.
The rebuild took place from 2009 - 2012 and included all new deck, bulk heads, ribs and inner transoms and much more. Using traditional build methods, copper nails and roves and bronze screws throughout. All new plumbing, electrical, engine, fuel and water tanks, the fridge and much more. The build report, photos and April 2024 survey are available on request.
The rigging is 3 years old and in perfect condition as are the complete set of sails.
The 30hp Nanni diesel is immaculate with extremely low hours since the install in 2018.
Southern Cross has been maintained to the highest standard continuing to reflect the same condition as when the rebuild was completed in 2012. She sits under full covers for full protection.
Southern Cross is AMSA red flag internationally registered, original and only SOUTHERN CROSS.
Her history is long and dates back into WWII where she still carries a bullet under the mast. A "Warship". History buffs can explore her colourful history and enjoy being her new custodian, relishing in the interest that she brings.
