In 2020, a unique journey began at VMG Yachtbuilders with the creation of a truly exceptional yacht, originally known as the “Waddenboot.” The ship, which now bears the name IJver since her launch, laid the foundation for the entire IJver Class fleet. Due to the growing enthusiasm of all parties during her construction process, VMG Yachtbuilders and Olivier van Meer decided to create an IJver Class fleet. Throughout the process, passion and enthusiasm ensured that a vision was transformed into a beautiful yacht. The IJver. The IJver is not just any yacht; it embodies memories from childhood, where sailing took place over the Dutch, German, and Danish Wadden and coastal waters, woven into a design. The result is a yacht that has the appearance of a robust ship with the characteristics of a fishing trawler combined with the luxury of a motor yacht. The Waddenboot ‘IJVER’ speaks through her steep bow, but does not have the appearance of a thoroughbred trawler, nor is it a chic and luxurious motor yacht. The suitable combination makes her unique. Her lines are refined but not too rounded. We can say that she truly has her own signature. The interior of the yacht is designed with both comfort and functionality in mind. The salon is equipped with removable composite hatches, creating a spacious open area that serves as the main living space. A separate cabin is dedicated to the owner, providing privacy and tranquility. There is also a bunk bed for the children, each equipped with portholes that offer views of the water and evoke the scent of adventure on the open sea. The fully insulated wheelhouse provides the perfect environment for summer travels, with an open roof that allows fresh air and sunlight. The owner’s cabin has a separate toilet and shower area for added convenience, along with air conditioning for a comfortable stay in all conditions. The interior is made of high-quality oak, with both solid wood and veneer, giving the space an elegant and timeless appearance. The combination of natural materials and thoughtful design creates a welcoming atmosphere throughout the yacht. The outdoor feeling can be created by removing the hatches. The salon is equipped with 10 removable composite hatches for easy access and ventilation. Additionally, there are 3 removable composite hatches above the helm for even more ventilation and convenience. The yacht also has 6 integrated portholes in the hull, all of which can be opened for natural airflow and to improve ventilation throughout the interior. The IJver is built to the highest quality standards in Dutch yacht building. The hull is made of 8 mm aluminum plating with frames every 400 mm, CNC cut to 10 mm thickness and 50 mm height. The deck and superstructure are made of 6 mm aluminum, while the structural bulkheads are also 6 mm thick, ensuring exceptional stiffness. A solid keel beam of 50 mm runs from the rudder shelf all the way to the stem, forming the backbone of the hull. The foundations of the mast and anchor winch are reinforced with 10 mm plating for maximum load-bearing capacity. A stainless steel anchor chain tube is fully insulated and embedded in the hull structure for durability and sound reduction. The rudder stock is made of solid 60 mm aluminum, and a robust 60 x 30 mm half-round rubbing strake runs around the entire hull for extra protection. The IJver is equipped with Seakeeper 9 Zero Speed stabilizers, which provide exceptional stability, even when the yacht is stationary. These advanced stabilizers significantly reduce rolling, increasing comfort for those on board, whether they are sailing or at anchor. The advantage of the Seakeeper 9 is its ability to maintain a smooth and stable experience, allowing passengers to enjoy a more relaxed and pleasant time. The mast is Oregon laminated, traditionally built SRF. Painted in 2024. There is an electric system to lower the mast. The propulsion is of high quality, with an oil-lubricated propeller shaft (Blokland) and a bronze 25” five-blade propeller equipped with a line cutter. Sustainability and smart technology go hand in hand, thanks in part to two solar panels that recharge the alarm and monitoring system. The installation is equipped with a JSM Medemblik PLC control system, ensuring maximum control and safety on board. The yacht features Neptune Excellent mattresses with slatted bases, strip and spot lighting (24V, fully dimmable), a kitchen with a Corian countertop, floors with aluminum supports, and mahogany finishing. Furthermore, the ship is equipped with: electrically operated transom door and swim ladder, deck wash pumps for fore and aft deck, extensive ventilation options including 4 Lewmar Ocean hatches, 6 portholes, and various composite hatches, AIS system for safe sailing.
