Description
This 2010 custom built Grand Craft 30 RS Anniversary Edition offers a classic look with leading-edge construction. A beautiful convergence of past and present. Grand Craft combines the authenticity of the past with the dependability of the present, artfully blending modern performance technologies with traditional styling. The result is a handcrafted wooden boat that looks as if it was lifted from the pages of the Great Gatsby, yet is as dependable and maintenance-free as any contemporary handcrafted watercraft. Each Grand Craft requires thousands of hours, including a month or longer just in the finishing room. This work of art embodies more craftsmanship and attention to detail per running foot than virtually any other watercraft made today. Grand Craft melds state-of-the-art woodworking techniques with Old World craftsmanship. Utilizing a special wood epoxy saturation technique, they bond multiple layers of wood for unsurpassed flexibility and strength. Their process also makes the hull virtually impervious to any damaging effects of salt or freshwater by creating a watertight foundation for unsurpassed depth of image in the final finish. In addition to protecting the wood, this saturation process eliminates the need for “soaking up” the hull, a task traditionally associated with wooden hulls. Grand Craft are ready for immediate use when launched for the first time. Powered with twin Crusader 6.0L MPI engines with about 325 hours of use, bow and stern thrusters and includes an Integrity triple-axle bunk trailer.
Craftsmanship
Trained and skilled craftsmen mill and color match mahogany accordingly. Most models feature three layers of 1/4" mahogany on the hull sides and bottom.
African mahogany is preferred by Grand Craft for its flexible strength and sound/shock absorption, as well as its lasting beauty. Each piece is hand selected on the basis of the consistent, reddish-brown hue and grain; straight grain for side planking and ribbon grain for the transom. Walnut stain is often used on dash panels and storage compartments.
Stringers, made from high-grade fir, run the length of the hull for added strength.
All hardware is hand-cast brass or bronze, which is plated in copper, nickel, and chrome, by the highest quality process available. Heavy as it is handsome, this striking hardware exemplifies the quality of Grand Craft—strong, durable and beautiful pieces of fine jewelry.
Their goal is customer satisfaction through the use of custom design, superior construction, and state-of-the-art technology. The end result is handcrafted boats of excellence, integrity, speed, and performance that last for generations and require modest maintenance.
Their commitment is to their customers by providing them with the best Grand Craft for their stated needs in addition to a positive working relationship and timely customer service.
Their aim is to uphold the legend that is Grand Craft: builders of fine mahogany runabouts—boats of timeless beauty and outstanding performance for the discriminating boater.
