Description
Powerboat Guide describes the Rum Runner edition as such:
The Mainship 30 Pilot Sedan is a hardtop version of popular Mainship 30 Pilot. The big difference, of course, is the Sedan’s semi-enclosed helm and bridge deck. Built on a solid fiberglass, semi-displacement hull with a prop-protecting skeg, the Pilot is suited to a variety of uses. A large cockpit makes her a competent
fish or dive platform, and her economical operation and comfortable accommodations appeal to weekend cruisers. The cabin was originally arranged with a V-berth/dinette forward, a good-sized head, and a teak-and-holly cabin sole. In 2003, the updated Series II Pilot featured a newcherry interior and a revised cabin layout with a V-berth that foldsin half when not in use. (Note that the Series II also incorporates
a shortened keel, propeller tunnel, and a five-blade prop.) Early models with a single 170hp Yanmar diesel will cruise at 14 knots (16–17 knots top), and those with a 230hp Yanmar cruise at 16 knots (19–20 knots top). Series II models with a 315hp Yanmar (of which Irish Miss has a new one just passed break in hours) cruise at a steady 18 knots and reach a top speed in the low 20s
Whether you fish, dive, or cruise, the Pilot 30-II can fit the bill. The Open Express' elongated cockpit will allow for plenty of anglers and the wide covering boards will accept a battalion of rod holders. A fresh water washdown and optional swim platform with ladder will please the diver and his crew and the bridgedeck settees will double as extra bunks for the overflow of family and friends or just a great place to tune up a tan.
