This 2003 Custom “Gentleman’s Racer” is a 33′ stepped-hull wood boat that was constructed by Tom Hill and Peter Russett in Vermont

repowered with a supercharged 1,710ci Allison V12 in 2020. The engine is mounted inboard ahead of the helm, and the hull is constructed of tongue-and-groove mahogany plank sides with a laminate bottom. The cooling system has been reconfigured, and replacement instrumentation has been fitted. The included Magic Tilt trailer features three axles along with 15″ galvanized steel wheels.

The cockpit features a bench seat with a tuck-and-roll backrest as well as a fire extinguisher and a throwable flotation device.

The custom 33′ hull is said to feature 1” thick by 2″ wide sapele mahogany plank tongue-groove sides that are edge screwed along with pattern-grade mahogany laminate below the chine. The mahogany components were assembled using West System epoxy and require no soaking, according to the selling dealer.

The center-console helm features a wood-rimmed steering wheel fronting a polished instrument and control panel with a hand-operated throttle, a bow thruster controller, and brass accents.

Replacement instrumentation was fitted under current ownership and includes a Mitchell tachometer and manifold pressure gauge as well as auxiliary readouts.

The supercharged 1,710ci Allison V12 is a 99-series example that is said to have been rebuilt and marinized by Jose Flores of Vintage V12s in Tehachapi, California, before installation in 2020. It features two spark plugs and four valves per cylinder as well as pent-roof combustion chambers, blade and fork connecting rods, ram’s head intake manifolds, and a Bendix-Scintilla Magneto. The cooling system was reconfigured in 2025, according to the previous seller.

The engine turns a single propeller through a V-drive transmission with a slipper clutch assembly.

The Magic Tilt triple-axle trailer shown above will accompany the boat. It features a bow stop, a manual winch, and 15″ galvanized steel wheels with 225/75 Halibrand Radial ST tires. The trailer is not currently registered
