Description
Saginaw Bay – Northern Marine 75
Overview
Saginaw Bay has been a loved one owner expedition yacht that recently sold privately to its second owner in 2022 who then completed upgrades of all navigation electronics, AV, networking and major systems in 2024 with the intention of worldwide cruising. The boat has been purchased into a sales tax paid WA State LLC. The first owner took meticulous care of Saginaw Bay from when they built her in Anacortes WA to her sale. The same, hands on exceptional boat manager/captain was an integral part of all work and maintenance on the vessel including the replacement of the original build engine with a better, higher horsepower Lugger commercial duty engine. There was nothing wrong with the stock engine installation, the original owners just wanted something with better power and performance a few years into owning the vessel. When boarding, you will marvel that the boat looks and smells like new and that you could eat off the engine room floor. Saginaw Bay has lived its life predominantly as a PNW cruiser based out of Seattle where it has a 100ft slip.
This blue water boat is ready for world wide cruising for an owner operator couple or captain in the 4th forward stateroom. Only 4 of these N75 hulls were built to this specification with the 18.5 ft beam and lower freeboard than the larger boats that Northern Marine then built. These hulls have proven world cruiser reputations and are regarded by owners as perhaps the best boats built by Northern Marine.
Distinctive in the 75 ft expedition yacht market is the large aft boat deck and its 3,000 lb crane capacity. Rarely found on boats of this size, this boat deck provides incredible flexibility for the owner operator to pick their adventure whether large or small tender, fishing boat, waterski boat, jet ski, water toys, Kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, scooters, motorcycles or whatever is desired. Easily launched by a couple or individual, the crane’s ability to unload to Port, Starboard or the stern swim platform makes launching easy and accessible. Currently, a new Highfield 560 19ft (12 person) tender is on deck to Port and either a 14ft aluminum bottom AB RIB or a collection of racked kayaks, paddle boards, bikes or a scooter are to Starboard.
The November 2025 survey records the exceptional condition of the boat and its engines with all maintenance current and the boat is ready to voyage. With 1,436 gallon capacity of fresh water, up to 4,396 gallons of fuel, and its 700 hp Lugger engine with get home drive on dual generator PTOs, Saginaw Bay can cross oceans safely and efficiently. While traveling the Pacific Northwest at 9kts as a full displacement trawler, you are likely to arrive sooner than your friends with “faster” semi displacement yachts. When the weather creates choppy seas, their passengers will want to stay at the dock until sea conditions improve while Saginaw Bay passengers will be comfortable and safe underway.
Saginaw Bay has a unique portside flushdeck design that enhances the indoor living space with a spacious and home like feeling without operational sacrifice. The voluminous boat deck provides full access to the portside for easy fendering and line control while docking. There is also a cockpit portside exit door to easily access the dock or a tender.
Saginaw Bay looks, feels and smells like a new boat inside. It was built by a remarkable Seattle family and was under the care of one professional manager/caretaker from its build and overlapping engagement with the the current second owner. The boat has been lovingly cared for with an open checkbook. The new current (2nd) owner undertook to fully upgrade and modernize all of the navigation, systems monitoring, audio and visual systems aboard to the very latest and best of what is available from Garmin, Furuno, Flir, etc. The boat is fully on line and ready to go with considerable redundancies for safety and convenience. The service and maintenance records demonstrate that this boat can depart for blue water cruising “tomorrow” needing only the next owner to bring their clothes and provisions. The boat will come fully found with housewares and an extensive spares inventory. Reviewing the maintenance and service logs ,including the dry dock bottom work done in September 2025, demonstrate the readiness for voyaging. The current owner prepped the boat for the goal of extended family cruising, but a change in the owner’s personal life has made the goal of worldwide cruising not possible. So Saginaw Bay is ready and waiting to take the next owner make their dreams reality.
Saginaw Bay is ready for cruising near and far with a fuel range approaching 5,000 Nautical Miles, full Maretron monitoring systems, Garmin 9000 series 4k Electronics, 4 staterooms, 4 full bathrooms and a 5th cockpit bathroom, recently serviced Naiad stabilizers, ABT proportional hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, 2 wing stations with full visibility from bow to stern, a Dockmate remote control for single handed operation (docking and anchoring), two generators, redundancy all around and a get home drive that can run off of either genset PTO. Additionally, owner’s of Northern 75s with the twin rudder system like that on Saginaw Bay remark that these boats have a design that is incredibly maneuverable and stable in all sea conditions. The 18.5 foot beam and formidable bulbous bow makes these boats incredibly seaworthy, but still manageable for a couple to maintain and operate compared to boats with increased height, freeboard and beam. Saginaw Bay is an adventure ship that can comfortably coastal or blue water cruise with minimal limitation. It is ideal for the active owner who wants to choose their adventure, making the most of the boat deck’s size and flexibility.
