Description

The Targa 36 is a model recognized for its robust construction, safety at sea, and excellent compromise between comfort and performance in the category of cruising boats around 11 meters. This 1995 unit is in very good overall condition, with a rare ownership history: its owner has kept it for many years out of genuine attachment, considering that it is difficult to find a boat offering a comparable level of quality for a size compatible with a berth of 10 to 11 meters.

One of the strong points of this unit lies in the quality of the improvements made to modernize the whole and provide current comfort on board. The interior has been renovated with high-end fabrics and carpets, creating a warm and bright atmosphere. The light wood finishes enhance the feeling of space and clarity in the saloon. The layout offers two double cabins, allowing for comfortable accommodation for two couples or a family, while maintaining a spacious saloon/living area. The forward cabin is particularly spacious for a boat of this size, which is a notable advantage during a cruising program. The saloon features a convertible table that can transform into an extra sleeping area, increasing the occasional accommodation capacity.

The bathroom is designed for pleasant daily use, with a separate shower, a feature rarely found in this segment. The electric toilets also contribute to increased comfort on board, in line with the philosophy of this Targa 36: a seaworthy and solid boat, but which maintains a true level of amenities for extended outings. The refrigerators have been replaced, improving life on board and food preservation, both at the dock and at anchor.

On the mechanical side, the unit is equipped with a Volvo Penta KAD 42 (inboard diesel) engine, known for its reliability and longevity when properly maintained. The engines total approximately 1060 hours, with a service performed at 950 hours, and limited use over the past two years. Follow-up operations were carried out about two years ago on major components (elbows/collectors, turbos, heat exchanger: replacement or inspection according to maintenance history), which is a reassuring point for a buyer wishing to navigate with peace of mind. The boat offers a comfortable cruising speed of about 20 to 22 knots, ideal for quickly connecting anchorages or performing coastal navigation in good conditions. The potential maximum speed is around 27 to 28 knots after hull maintenance, a value consistent with this type of unit.

The seakeeping of the Targa 36 is part of its reputation: safe hull, serious passage at sea, feeling of solidity, making it a favored boat for regular navigation, even when conditions deteriorate. In maneuvering, the unit is equipped with a bow thruster, a particularly useful feature on a boat of this size, facilitating entries and exits from berths as well as maneuvers in crowded ports.

The navigation equipment includes a Garmin GPS/sounder, providing a clear reading of essential information for coastal navigation (position, route, depth). The whole is designed for simple and effective use, with ergonomics suited to the helm. Depending on the configuration on board, a VHF may complement the equipment for safety and port communications.

Outside, the cockpit is designed to fully enjoy life at sea: smooth circulation, friendly space, and optimized relaxation areas. A board has been added to create a large L-shaped sunbathing area, significantly improving outdoor comfort and capacity for hosting. The boat comes with a white dinghy, very practical for anchorages and access to shore. The overall presentation is enhanced by new upholstery and new covers, which provide both better usability and a more modern aesthetic.

On the technical side, two points should be transparently noted: the hydraulic trims are out of service. However, the owner indicates that they are not needed, as the boat's trim is adjusted via the flaps. Additionally, a charging issue on a battery group has led to the ongoing installation of a second charger to optimize electrical management. These elements are important to know, but they fit into a logic of monitoring and continuous improvement of the boat.

This Targa 36 represents an interesting opportunity for a buyer looking for a reliable, seaworthy, very well-built unit, benefiting from comfort-oriented improvements and modernization, and capable of meeting a real coastal cruising program. Its format remains ideal for a berth of 10 to 11 meters, a concrete advantage in many ports. Possibility of taking back a motorboat of about 8 meters, which can facilitate a transaction in the context of a unit change.
