Jantar 21

General:
The Jantar 21 looks elegant. When boarding, it is noticeable that the stability is quite good. The space between the inner shell and the hull is filled with foam, creating an unsinkable whole. The construction of the boat is solid and robust. The retractable keel has no bulb, making the bottom completely flat. This allows the boat to sit very low on the trailer. A stainless steel keel with lead weight is present. At sea, the keel rattles in the daggerboard case. The keel cannot be fixed. The attached balance rudder is foldable. The boat has a short, good-looking superstructure with acrylic windows (laxan would have been better) and the methods of attachment can lead to leakage. The ship has a spacious foredeck and sufficiently wide side decks. The cockpit benches are wide. The cockpit is deep enough due to the classic inner railing. This gives the feeling of not sitting on top of an object. The cockpit edge is well under an incline, and one finds support with the feet against the aluminum edge of the cockpit bench. The non-slip profile on deck is smooth, especially when wet. With the right footwear, this problem is solved. The mast base is good. The beautiful swimming platform and the outboard motor are easily accessible. The storage box in the cockpit is spacious. The anchor locker in the bow is ample and self-draining. The pulpit, separate stern seat, and guardrail are sturdy.

Deck:
The deck fittings are generously sized. In the standard version, there are too many functions on the winches located on the cabin top. Ideally, there should be sheet winches on the cockpit edges and a few more clam-cleats on the garage to fully utilize all trim lines. All control lines can be operated from the cockpit. Only to change the headsail, one must go forward. The Jantar 21 has a 7/8 rig, which works very smoothly with a weatherly extended mainsail. The boom has a good construction. Under an incline, the traveler is difficult to operate, and adjustments need to be made for this.

Sailing characteristics:
With light and moderate winds, the boat is somewhat excellent on the helm. The boat responds quickly, sails quite high into the wind, and at a beam reach, it quickly gets on a plane. The little ship should be sailed as upright as possible. With stronger winds, the boat quickly loses its helm, and it is necessary to reef in time. It is notable that the boat takes on little water. A thoroughbred that demands attention. Everything can be operated from the cockpit, which is also necessary for optimal sailing. Sailing with the Jantar 21 is fun for the demanding sailor.

Interior:
Below deck, the Jantar 21 is surprisingly spacious for its length, and the interior looks modern and sleek. A double sleeping area in the forepeak. The galley is located to port next to the daggerboard case with a sink, cooking stove, and storage space. The table ingeniously folds up against the daggerboard case. This is not a heavy construction, but it suffices. To starboard of the daggerboard case, there is access to the forepeak. Two benches in the cabin can be used as berths. There is storage space in the benches. A cabinet is located to starboard at the back. Under the entrance, there is a spacious storage drawer.
