Description
A timeless classic. Marine Trader has stood the test of time of being one of the great trawlers of the past. Once considered cheap, they have endured and have come out on top of many boats built before it thanks to the solid fiberglass hull, custom workmanship and great Ford Lehman engines
The sellers actually live aboard on the hard of this vessel in the winter months, they have done a lot of work to her and she has a very nice looking upgraded interior, a good solid bone structure, and engines that reportedly run outstanding.
This boat is obviously live aboard ready on the hard, or if you are doing some dockside living as well. If you are doing the great loop or other serious cruising adventures, it will still need some additional updating, and planning to go that route and that is okay, this boat can make these type of trips and the price point will allow you for some sweat equity... You are just not going to find waterfront living for $35k (well maybe right here right now) ..
But get us a reasonable offer, the sellers being seasonal just do not have the time to finish it off as they are here only 1-2 months out of the year.

POWER BOAT GUIDE REVIEW
Although she remained in production until 1986, the Marine Trader 40 Double Cabin enjoyed her greatest popularity during the fuel crisis years of the late 1970s. Trawler sales were on a roll back then as the public turned toward the efficiency and traditional styling inherent in such a design. The MT 40 has the proper trawler “look” with enough teak trim and interior woodwork to sink a lesser boat. Plus, she was very affordable when compared to similar imported trawlers available at the time. Inside, her total teak interior is arranged in the normal double-cabin configuration with accommodations for six. The starboard-side galley has tons of counter and storage space, and port and starboard deck doors in the salon made getting around easy. (Note also the cockpit door in the aft stateroom.) Engineroom access is via a hatch in the salon sole. Additional features include wide side decks, functional mast and boom, teak bow pulpit, and a teak swim platform. On the downside, window leaks and electrical problems are common. A single 120hp Lehman diesel will cruise the Marine Trader 40 at 7–8 knots (about 10 knots top). Twin-engine models cruise a knot or two more.
