Description
Presenting the M.V. "ENCANTO," a truly remarkable Canoe Cove 41 that has undergone a comprehensive, no-expense-spared refit, transforming a classic West Coast cruiser into a modern, comfortable, and highly reliable motor yacht. This multi-year refit started by taking the entire boat down to a bare hull. In consultation with the Canoe Cove folks, the entire boat was reconfigured, improved, and modernized. You can consider this a 2014 model year, and it has been in a boat shed since then.
From the bottom up, this well-respected hull, known for its solid construction and rough water capabilities, was refit using high-quality modern materials. Composite panel cabin sides replace the original wood, all new AJR Marine Windows, including commercial-grade glass at the front. New tanks were installed for fuel, water, and waste, along with all new hoses, lines, and through hulls. The electrical system was installed with new wires, connections, panels, and accessories. From there, a new interior was designed, focusing on the needs of a cruising couple, complete with a double-wide shower!
The well-maintained engines were removed in 2023 and spent a winter being overhauled with all new components. Known for their strength and reliability, the twin 7.4Litre V8 Mercruiser engines put out 330 HP each. At 2100 RPM, Encanto cruises comfortably at 8 knots, utilizing a combined 7 gallons an hour. For maximum efficiency, cruise at 7 knots on one engine using 3.4 gallons an hour. Gas has consistently been a lower price than diesel, and these numbers make for a very efficient cruiser.
Seeing this boat in person, you will note the obvious quality construction and appreciate the effort and investment into remaking this well-respected West Coast cruiser.
"ENCANTO" is a rare find—a classic Canoe Cove 41 whose extensive refit has modernized every system and cosmetic detail. This vessel is not just maintained; it has been reborn to a standard far beyond its peers. It is ready for its next owner to enjoy Pacific Northwest cruising in safety, comfort, and style.
Accomodation
The interior has been completely reconfigured and rebuilt from scratch with exquisite Sapelle African Mahogany joinery, offering a practical, spacious, and elegant layout perfect for a cruising couple for extended cruising and entertaining.
Living Area: The salon is the heart of the vessel, featuring a lower helm station to starboard and a raised double settee to port, facing a luxurious leather sleeper sofa along the port side. The long dinette has a folding leaf that expands into a much larger space when hosting guests. The galley is centrally located to port, ensuring the chef remains part of the conversation. Ample storage, a teak and holly sole, and abundant LED lighting create a warm and functional environment.
Sleeping Area: The forward cabin boasts a custom, approximately queen-sized berth, centred with access from both sides. There is generous storage below and in two dedicated hanging lockers. A convenient vanity with a porcelain sink is also located in the forward cabin.
Head: Located at the aft end of the cabin, the head was made to be spacious and comfortable with a Par, electric toilet, vanity with storage and a custom-made, double-wide shower.
Cockpit & Bridge: The spacious cockpit provides excellent access to the water via a full fibreglass swim grid and to the engine room via a single large hatch. The cockpit has UltraDeck flooring for comfort and ease of maintenance. A beautifully crafted centerline stairway with mahogany steps leads to the expansive command bridge, which features full instrumentation, wrap-around seating, a large oak table, and a sturdy mahogany radar mast. The upper deck has a huge amount of space for visiting friends and family, as well as great storage for gear, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards.
Domestic Equipment
Designed for self-sufficient cruising with high-quality, reliable systems.
Cooking: The galley is equipped with a new Force 10 3-burner propane stove with an oven and a full-size Nova Kool fridge with freezer. A large, stainless-steel Kuuma BBQ can also be mounted on the cockpit for summer barbecues at anchor.
Heating & Hot Water: Stay comfortable in any season with a Dickinson Newport propane cabin heater. A dedicated hot water heater provides ample supply for the galley and the enclosed head.
Head: The enclosed head features a Par electric head, a porcelain sink, and a separate, fully tiled double-wide shower stall with a dedicated shower pump.
Electrical
Relaunched in 2014 with an all-new professional-grade electrical system ensures reliability and peace of mind. Every cable, connection, fuse, and breaker was new when launched.
Charging & Batteries: The vessel features a robust battery bank with 6 X 6V golf cart batteries as well as a 2 X 8D Lifeline 12V batteries in the bow, making up the house battery system and windlass. There are also dedicated 12V starting batteries for each engine and generator. Power management is handled by a Xantrex inverter and a Victron 100 Amp battery charger, a Victron 30 Amp charger and monitored by a 4-bank VSM battery monitor.
Generator: A new Westerbeke 5.0 kW genset (with under 50 hours) provides ample power for all systems when away from the dock.
Protection Systems: All new Blue Sea Systems electrical panels, fuses and switches. The propane system includes an Electro Systems control panel with a solenoid and sensor that automatically shuts off the gas supply if a leak is detected, exceeding ABYC standards.
Navigation & Instruments
Modern electronics for safe and precise navigation from dual helm stations.
Electronics: Features a Garmin GPSMAP 4010 GPS/Chartplotter and a Garmin Echo 500c sounder with an Airmar transducer for exceptional accuracy.
Communication & Safety: Equipped with a Horizon Matrix AIS+ VHF radio, which transmits and receives vessel data for enhanced collision avoidance. Sea Star hydraulic steering and Morse controls at both helms provide smooth handling.
Ground Tackle
A robust anchoring system for secure stops.
System: The setup includes a Danforth anchor with 50' of galvanized chain and 300' of double-braided line.
Windlass: An Ideal windlass with both gypsy and capstan, controlled by a convenient deck foot switch, allows for easy and safe deployment and retrieval of the ground tackle from the bow.
Mechanical
Powerful and well-serviced twin propulsion with incredible engine room access. The engine room is exceptionally clean and organised. Both engines were pulled in 2023 and overhauled in the owner's garage. Reinstalled in 2024 with new transom plates, this setup has many years of service available.
Engines: Twin Mercruiser 7.4L V8 gasoline engines (330 HP each) coupled with Bravo Two stern drives.
Combined 7 gallons an hour using both engines at 8 knots. If you want to run at maximum efficiency, you can run on one engine at 7 knots for 3.5 gallons an hour. Considering gas is less expensive than diesel, this is a very economical boat to run.
Auxiliary Equipment: The spotless engine room features fresh-water cooling via heat exchangers, raw water sea strainers, and easy access to all service points.
Propellers: The Bravo-2 stern drives are fitted with fully serviced and balanced 3-blade, bronze propellers, coated with high-grade commercial antifouling paint.
New transom plates in 2024
Generator: 2014 Westerbeke 5kW 5.0/4.2BCG60 gas-powered generator with less than 50 hrs.
