Description
Rondspant, Historic motor yacht
A classic that has been restored and maintained with great love and craftsmanship. Many beautiful details and high-quality finished with teak. Equipment includes: stainless steel foot rail/guard rail, chrome hand anchor winch, chrome portholes, teak windscreen with bimini top and cockpit tent, LED (cockpit) lighting, (sun)bed in cockpit, plastic drinking water, diesel, and waste water tanks, Webasto hot air heating, battery charger on shore power, boiler, 2-burner spirit stove, stainless steel sink, compressor cooling, VDO depth gauge and log.
This historic motor yacht dates back to the early 20th century when there were still many Water municipalities in Friesland. A water municipality was a municipality that was only accessible by water, thus without road or rail connections. The residents were therefore dependent on transport via the water network that was dug to drain the land, where windmills and locks could regulate the water level. The ditches along the farms were often narrow and shallow, and the boats were adapted to this. Most ships were sailing cargo vessels, such as the well-known skûtsje. For passenger transport, wooden or steel boats were used. After the advent of the diesel engine, narrow steel boats came into use. For church visits and receiving important guests, the wealthier families used a specially equipped boat, the “church boat” or “notary boat.” Step by step, the water municipalities were connected to the road network, and the utility of the church boat disappeared. Some, like this boat, were converted into tourist boats. This boat was neglected and was found half-sunk in 2004. The riveted steel hull has been completely stripped and rebuilt from here with layers of epoxy and then reconstructed to the model of the original tourist boat. Everything with solid teak wood and all the facilities of this time, including bow thruster, electric toilet, and clean and waste water tanks.
The ship has been in storage for over a year now.
