In an astonishing coup for British powerboat racing, a UK race weekend has arranged a concert fronted by a first-class act visitors might actually want to see. And we’re not talking about the ironic, tongue-in-cheek, Z-list appeal of Pontins-style networkers like Toyah Wilcox or Cheryl Baker. We’re talking about a serious, current, big-ticket A-lister with authentic mainstream appeal.

English rapper and singer/songwriter Professor Green is to grace the Powerboat P1 event at Stokes Bay, 12 July, with a live concert.
Yes, none other than Professor Green is to headline the P1 Race concert at Stokes Bay. In case you don’t know of his work, London-born Pro Green has notched up sales of more than 500,000 albums and 1.75 million singles in the UK alone, with two top 3 albums and eight consecutive top 40 singles. He boasts a massive social following, with 2 million likes on Facebook, 1.75 million followers on Twitter and 32 million views on YouTube – and has collaborated with artists as varied as Lily Allen, Labrinth and Emeli Sande.
Powerboat P1, the world’s biggest marine motorsport brand, has announced that the superstar rapper and singer-songwriter will appear on the P1 stage at Stokes Bay at the close of two days of one-design powerboat racing and jet ski action. This particular P1 stop was only held at the Gosport venue for the first time in 2014, but it is thought that, with the extra spice of a top-line gig, the final Grand Prix of the Sea event on Sunday 12th July (with support acts, DJ Santero and Tre Amici) will pull in a crowd in excess of 30,000 people.
If you remain undeterred by the fact that he’s not actually a real Professor, the big finale kicks off at 5pm. Tickets for this astonishing spectacle can be bought directly from Ticketmaster.co.uk.
