H2O, the national joint venture company owned by British Waterways (BW) and bloc, is looking to regenerate Northwich Marina. The proposals would create a mixed-use development, including housing, a new food store and waterside restaurant. Other key improvements will include a new marina providing up to 40 berths, plus public access to the waterfront through a broad riverside walkway and a number of quality landscaped spaces.

The existing side slipway will be retained as one of the key public spaces where visitors and residents can enjoy being close to the water. And BW will also seek to retain the equipment and machinery and incorporate it into the landscaping scheme to help explain previous use, since its construction in 1959.uk.boats.com

British Waterways is planning to advertise in the New Year to select one or more private sector operators for the docks and moorings, who will work with them on finalising the layout and facilities. A planning application is expected to be submitted mid-January with construction starting in July 2012. It is anticipated the scheme should be completed by summer 2013.
