Description

CAPITAN LIPARI is a ketch inspired by a pre-war design, reworked by Bruno Veronese and engineer Castellini of the Recco shipyard, where it was built immediately after the war. Oral testimonies and photographs date the launch to 1947.
The hull was built in oak from Tizzano, a Ligurian wood known for the particular length and strength of the planking courses made from the trunks of its oaks. Topsides were made of maritime pine, the interior of cherry wood. Restoration work carried out in the 1990s led to the reconstruction of the deck in teak and the masts in Douglas fir.
Between April 2018 and June 2019, the boat underwent a complete restoration at Tecnomar in Fiumicino, followed by constant maintenance care.

Designed by Bruno Veronese before the Second World War for a French banker, she was only built in 1947 and purchased by the Giorgini family of Florence under the name Donna Michela.
In the early 1960s it was sold to the Istituto Nautico di Carloforte in Sardinia and acquired its current name of CAPITAN LIPARI, the founder of the institute in 1906.
In 1991 she was bought by her third owner, again a Florentine, who gave her a thorough restoration by the Francesco Del Carlo Shipyard. The masts were rebuilt in 1995 by the Cantiere Pezzini of Viareggio.

Between April 2018 and June 2019, the boat underwent a complete restoration at Tecnomar in Fiumicino under the careful supervision of engineer Stefano Rossi, the highlights of which are: planking and structure reclamation with the replacement of every damaged planking, replacement of all the metal capstans and ballast pins, reconstruction of the rudder, replacement of the old engine with two new Yanmar ones, and the creation of a functional engine room.

The replacement and repositioning of the hydraulic and electrical systems, together with the construction of all the polyethilene water tanks, allowed the boat to be restored to its original trim. The deck plan was modified with the construction of a functional cockpit.
At the end of the work the vessel was awarded RINA Class certification.
In the winter of 2022, a further upgrade to the rig was carried out, complete repainting of the masts and installation of Antal rails with fully custom silver-finished sled carriages.

CONSTRUCTION
