The Bavaria Cruiser 34 is the latest addition to the German builder's seven-strong Cruiser range and the smallest to incorporate twin wheels. Based on the hull of the Cruiser 33 (review), the benefits of this twin-wheel design are immediately obvious with easy access from the cabin to the bathing platform for watersports or for getting on and off the boat when moored stern-to. However, for the helmsman's comfort and view of the sails, the twin steering is also a boon. Join boats.com German editor, Dieter Loibner, for his first look video.

For shorthanded sailing, the jib winches are within easy reach of the helm, although the main sheet is attached to the coachroof – a bit of a stretch even on a 33-footer.

Down below in exactly the same hull-length as the two-cabin Bavaria 33, the Cruiser 34 has a third cabin beneath the cockpit meaning the boat can now sleep six. As Dieter says: "Bavaria has a knack of finding space where there really shouldn't be any."
