Northern Irish rock bans Nine Lies has released a Christmas Charity single to raise funds for the RNLI, the first time the charity, which relies entirely on donations to perform its service helping those in peril at sea, has had a Christmas single dedicated to it.

The song, "Tragedy", was written specifically for the project, and you can see the official video here:

The video features real rescue footage provided by RNLI crews from around the UK and Ireland. The band said it was really excited about the project, and the video is dedicated “To the 176  Life-boatmen who have given their lives saving others, and all those who risk their lives saving those in peril on the sea today…”

Nine lies facebookWhy is Nine Lies doing this? Apparently the band likes to get involved in charity fundraising and the idea to raise money for the RNLI came about by accident when lead singer, Stevie Mann, was told the story of Penlee Lifeboat by his manager. The idea to raise money for the Lifeboat was agreed by the band’s management and they came up with the idea of releasing a single in aid of the Penlee Lifeboat, and the RNLI as a whole.

The single went on sale on December 3, all proceeds will go to the RNLI. You can buy the track on iTunes and vote for the song's video on the Beat 100. See more on the Nine Lies website or on the band's Facebook Page.
