Jeff Whyatt, British Waterways’ Waterway Manager said: “We are very pleased to be part of the Olympic Torch Relay Route, and we look forward to welcoming the Olympic Torch to the Grand Union Canal, Leicester Line at Foxton Locks, near Market Harborough.

"Foxton Locks is a wonderful working example of our industrial heritage, showcasing how the ingenious canal engineers of the past managed to create a transport network across the country that’s still running today. At Foxton, we welcome thousands of visitors every week to enjoy the wildlife, heritage and importantly the colourful boats that create the special canal side atmosphere of the place. Seeing the Olympic Torch at the site in July will be a very proud moment for everyone who works, volunteers and visits Foxton and another momentous occasion in the history of this special site.”
