As reported last week on our German sister site, de.boats.com, Bavaria has taken over the Nautitech, a French yard that specialises in building cruising catamarans. Thus Germany’s largest manufacturer of yachts gained a foothold in a new area of the market.

New on boats.com"The market for cruising catamarans is a fast-growing segment, not only for private owners but even more so for the charter market,” said Constantin von Bülow, CEO of Bavaria Yachts in a press statement. ”Bavaria has always had been very well positioned in both markets. With Nautitech Catamarans and its experienced team, led by founder Bruno Voisard, we have found the right partner to gain access to the catamaran market.”

Since 2004 the company has been building cruising cats between 40 and 60 feet in length at their facility in Rochefort on the French Atlantic coast. The strong points of all Nautitech yachts, the press release says, include “innovative use of spatial design combined
with excellent comfort, as well as high product quality and fast and safe sailing characteristics.” Nautitech boats typically are designed by Voisard, while the latest 40-foot model, was developed in collaboration with Marc Lombard.

Bavaria “is the ideal partner” for Nautitech, adds Voisard. “As a building block, our catamarans are an optimum addition to the Bavaria Yachts product portfolio.” Both companies will be exhibiting jointly for the first time at the Cannes boat show from September 9-14.
