Description

Slipstream of Cowley is a 1969 Sparkman & Stephens 34, out of the same mould as Ted Heath's Morning Cloud.  The S&S34s are well-known for their performance and handling.  I am sadly selling her because I have plans to go cruising for a extended period and have bought a much larger boat in order to do so.

In 2024 I replaced the mast, boom, genoa furler, and all standing rigging.  There is also a new spinnaker pole.  The running rigging is all in good condition.

She has a lightly-used Yanmar 3YM30 from 2008 (with only c. 250 hours) and saildrive which was relocated to underneath the companionway steps.  It has been well-maintained, including a recent rebuild of the raw water pump.

There is ample battery provision and solar panels to keep them topped up.  Electronics include a 9" Raymarine chartplotter and AIS; Raymarine wind instruments; Raymarine depth / log (depth sounder replaced recently).  Tiller pilot electric autopilot.

Gas hob / cooker.

Sails are getting on a bit but perfectly servicable for cruising, include main (single line reefed), furling genoa, a couple of smaller jibs and a spinnaker.

I have recently made a new set of cockpit benches.

All in all, she is a very seaworthy vessel and I took her across to Ireland via the Scillies and back last year without any problems.

She does require some work, although nothing major or strucutral and she could be sailed almost immediately: (1) the cockpit and deck are looking quite tired and need repainting and wood (except the new benches) needs varnishing; (2) the toerail requires rebedding / resealing as I experenced some slight water ingress when heeled right over last season - I have obtained a quote from a nearby boatyard and can discuss how this is addressed.  The pictures are not all that recent but I will take some more and happy to discuss any questions prior to viewing.

Accommodations

Double V-berth, 2x saloon single berths, 1x pilot berth.
