Owners comments
Owner´s comment:
It was in the 70's. A successful entrepreneur wanted a successful boat: beautiful and unbeatable. Not an easy undertaking in a time without cell phones, when offers were still delivered by post and there were still different currencies. Telephone calls abroad had to be registered and not every shipyard could meet the requirements for such a boat. This construction was not available off the shelf. But he was sitting in California; the designer who was able to fulfill the owner's and construction class expectations and regulations.
Yacht Designer: GARY W. MULL Naval Architects, Alameda, California
was commissioned to draw the HIGH NOON. The complete plans were available in October 1977.
In the same year, the Biatel shipyard in Austria, which specializes in wooden shipbuilding, offered to build it for DM 78,000. at. The costs only relate to the construction of the wooden shell and are based on rough plans.
It was an adventurous construction process. The hull from Austria, the engine from Sweden and the 16 m long aluminum mast were manufactured in England, shipped to France and transported as a special transport through Paris, past the Triumphal Arch, to Lake Constance. At that time it was a special kind of transport due to its excessive length.
From winter 2010 the HIGH NOON experienced the resurrection. After the old lady was no longer completely tight and the paint was brittle, the boat was completely renovated in the coming years.
Not only was the engine sent into its well-deserved retirement, but also the mast, sails and fittings were completely replaced. During the renovation work, care was taken to ensure that the boat retained its original style/design. The boat should be easier to handle, which is why the sailing was changed from spinnacker to gennacker. The interior design is a bit more comfortable and modern. But if you think that you will find a kitchen or even a bathroom in the cabin, you are wrong. At least modern electronics and LED lighting were used. The wine is still cooled in the bilge and the on-board catering at regattas consists of Landjäger and bananas. We eat warm food outside.
During winter storage in 2014/15, the HIGH NOON made friends with a beautiful teak trunk, which has since adorned the new deck and you can now say and see that the HIGH NOON is in mint condition.
The boat has been completely renovated by us since 2011 and is now technically and visually in new condition. The boat was launched in Lake Constance (fresh water) from 2012 and was only sailed from May to the end of September.
In winter the ship was stored in a heated hall.
