Description
The Imagine 50 “Sandetie” is a comfortable and sturdy ocean-going boat with good seakeeping qualities. It will take you safely across the oceans.
Sandetie is the only Imagine 50 to have left the Alu Marine shipyard in 1994. An integral centerboard boat built in aluminum, it has had only two owners, the last of whom sailed almost all of its miles. This boat has no less than two and a half circumnavigations under its belt, having crossed the Pacific and Polynesia several times before staying there longer and paying import taxes.
This sailboat is perfectly maneuverable by two, or even alone for someone experienced: the owner sailed solo on the Great Barrier Reef, the Torres Strait, and the Arafura Sea to Darwin, a distance of 2,000 nautical miles. This boat has been designed for comfort in all weather conditions and at all speeds, and has been meticulously cared for and methodically maintained during all its stopovers: Trinidad, Tahiti, New Zealand, South Africa, Panama, etc. The boat is very well equipped, completely self-sufficient for offshore sailing and ready to set sail after a refit and a few cosmetic touch-ups.
Recent equipment includes:
- All standing rigging replaced in 2019, oversized
- New Piccolo generator installed in 2022
- Autopilot recently replaced
- New 3000W converter
- Service battery bank replaced in 2022
- New Rocna anchor
- Electric toilet installed aft
- Additional solar panel on the gimbal
With a range of 1,400 miles on the engine, a large 500L water tank and watermaker, Sandetie will take you far, with unparalleled peace of mind. All sails are furling and the electric winch makes maneuvering easy. With the keel down, the boat has a draft of 3.95m and offers excellent upwind performance. With the keel raised, the draft is reduced to 1.45m, ideal for anchoring in the crystal-clear waters of Polynesia or for lifting the boat in any shipyard.
