Beneteau First 211

Description

The Beneteau First 211 is a quick, easy, trailerable, fun little cruiser/racer. Incredibly successful with thousands built in the various iterations (210, 211, 21.7 etc). Sloop rigged, tiller steered, lifting keel.
Designed by Groupe Finot and built by Chantiers Beneteau in 2000.

Construction

White Grp hull, deck and superstructure. Moulded in non-slip on deck and cabin roof. Blue style lines and boot top. Manual, worm driven, cast iron lifting keel. Twin, transom hung rudders in cassettes for lifting when drying out. Tiller steered with wooden tiller and tiller extension. Teak toerail. White GRP internal, structural, bonded in moulding. Cherry faced ply internal joinery.

Engine

2022 Mariner 5hp “Sailmate” 4 stroke petrol outboard with fwd, reverse and neutral gears. Rectifyer for charging battery

Tanks

Fresh water – 35 litres in flexible tank under forward berth.
Fuel – Remote 15 litre tank.

Electrics

12 volt system with 85Ah lead acid battery charged with rectifier charging lead from outboard. 6 function distribution panel. Interior and navigation lights.

Spars and Rigging

Deck stepped, single spreader, silver anodised mast – NEW in 2022. Slab reefing boom. 1 x 19 stainless wire standing rigging NEW in 2022. Split backstay with adjusting tackle. Terylene running rigging led aft to the cockpit. Z spar sprung rod kicker. Lazy jacks and lazybag. Alloy jib tracks with towable cars. Organisers and clutches to 2 x Lewmar 6A winches mounted on cabintop. Mast lowering kit including tabernacle fitted in 2022.

Open plan layout with four berths.

Very long pilot berths either side of companionway.
Folding cockpit/dining table stowed under companionway.
Plenty of stowage under cockpit sole.

FYS Comments

Good fun, small sailing boat, equally at home club racing, family weekending, creek crawling or day sailing. Very close winded and easy to sail short handed with the small headsail and can even be sailed with the keel up, in the right conditions.

“Smogg Too” is a local boat, originally supplied by us new! She has been looked after nicely and is ready to go with a recent outboard and recent standing rigging.
