Description

A very nice Malo 36 from 1997. She is only in her 2nd ownership. The 36 is a popular size for local cruising but also has the capability to go longer distances. Her build quality speaks for itself and she has been cherished by her current owners since 2004.

Builder's Comments

The Malö 36 is a large yacht for a thirty-six footer. With her sweet sheer line, medium displacement and well thought-out deck, the Malö Yachts 36 has the hallmark of a purposeful cruising yacht. Practical detailing and superior Swedish craftsmanship merge to give the Malö 36 her striking appearance.

Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorized A (Offshore).

 

Hull Construction:

  • Sandwich construction with balsa core.
  • Solid laminate wherever through-hull fittings are installed.
  • NGA gel coat finish.
  • 3 layers of epoxy below the waterline.
  • Rubbing strake molded integral with the hull, capped with a protective aluminum strip.
  • All stringers and bulkheads are fully laminated in place.
  • Hull no.117.

 

Deck Construction:

  • 12mm Hand laid teak deck on side decks, cockpit and coachroof.
  • Balsa-cored deck and coach roof.
  • The hull to deck joint is flanged construction, sealed with polyurethane, bolted and fiber glassed on the inside.
  • Cap rails, handrails, and other external woodwork are solid teak.

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • Lead ballast keel secured with stainless steel bolts.
  • Solid fiberglass rudder with full skeg.
