Description

Extremely well built Bruce roberts Spray 28. Steel construction with black painted topsides and white superstructure. Sloop rigged yacht with aluminium spars and stainless steel standing rigging. Comfortable wheelhouse with wheel steering. Spacious saloon with galley, heads compartment and dining area. Fore cabin with bespoke interior cabinet work and offset double berth.

Headsail with new UV strip, brand new running rigging and brand new sail cover. Comprehensive electronic navigation package including chart plotter, DSC VHF, AIS and autopilot. 

Good passage maker suitable for extended periods afloat. Excellent storage.

Construction

Steel constructed motor sailor using 4mm plate bent onto steel frames. Large diameter box keel allows for additional directional stability. Keel and skeg mounted rudder.  Under water areas antifouled and new anodes in July 2021. Topsides pained black with white contrasting waterline boot top. Steel decks painted in smart non slip coatings in August 2021. Stainless steel and timber bowsprit/walkway with inbuilt anchor rollers Open bow with mooring bollards and manual windlass. Double anchors with seperate spurn pipes.l

Stainless steel stanchions with double set of coated wires add security when moving around the decks. Handily placed steel grab rails on wheelhouse roof and coachroof. Wheelhouse has three aluminium framed forward facing windows and two side mounted windows port and starboard. This gives excellent visibility from helm.

Deep and safe cockpit with deck drains and storage aft. Timber access door to cabin.

Engines & Electrics

Vessel powered by a very economical yet reliable inboard Yanmar 3JH3, 38hp, 3-cylinder inboard diesel engine. Single lever throttle control at helm along with engine start panel with rev counter, oil pressure, water temperature and hour meter. Engine has completed 2,266 hours. Most recent service in 2021. Reduction gearbox driving stainless steel shaft and 3 -bladed bronze propeller. 

Bank of 2x12V batteries providing engine start and domestic power. These are fitted with a rotary style isolator and are recharged via the engine alternator or the onboard battery charger when attached to shore power. There is a 12/240V inverter suitable for charging hand held devices.

Sails & Rigging

Bermudan sloop sail plan with mast head rig. Deck stepped aluminium spars and boom. Main sheet track mounted at transom. Roller furling headsail system with lines led aft to cockpit. Stainless steel standing rigging attached to welded steel chainplates. Terylene running rigging the majority of which was replaced in August 2021.

Accommodation

Excellent accommodation more in keeping with a larger yacht. The wheelhouse is entered from the cockpit via a lockable timber door. To port is a comfortable seating area that can sit two persons in comfort. Below this area is a shallow locker and a large sail locker store room accessed via a ladder. Here you could store non perishable and equipment. Opposite the seating area is the helm with its wooden spoked steering wheel. Aft of this is  another settee for two that doubles as a helm seat. Full standing headroom here.

Two steps down and you are in the main saloon. To starboard is a functional galley with gas fuelled oven and 2-burner hob, a stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressurised water and a top loading larder box. Fridge is situated in the wheelhouse within easy reach of the saloon steps. Forward of the galley is a central drop leaved dining table. There is settees port and starboard. Aft on the port side is the heads compartment with sea toilet and shower.

In the bow is an off-set to starboard double berth with cabinet work to port including hanging space, drawers and locker storage. 

Attractively finished interior with painted white and pale green woodwork bulkheads and varnished cabinet work. 12V lighting throughout.
