Description

This Nautor's Swan 47 is powered by a 2009 Volvo Penta 75hp engine, with only 480 engine hours. She has been well looked after by her current owner who has spared no expense on her maintenance and upgrades.

She has brand new 2017/18 mainsail and genoa, new (2018) double dodgers, new windlass motor, new carbon bowsprit, and much more.

Owner's Comments:

SY Farouche was built in may 1980 and is in her second ownership only. Her first owner bought her brand new for his 60th birthday and sailed her from the yard in Finland during summer 1980 to Sardinia where he has a house with a private dock. It is where she spends all her life cruising in the waters of Sardinia and occasionally in Corsica. She has never been chartered, nor raced or hammered. Every year, for six months or so, she was laid up on dry dock in a yard at Porto Cervo. Excellent service and careful attention were always provided to her. Between 1997 and 2000, she spends all her time on the dry dock, her first owner ageing and having other plans.

In the year 2000, I had the good fortune of purchasing her. Since she has been dry for 3 years, before putting her into the water, I took the opportunity to give her a thorough preventive anti osmosis treatment. This treatment was scientifically made, the different coats calibrated as to build a total of 0.750 mm of protection.

After that, she was sailed to France for a short while and then shipped to the south of Sweden to have her teak decks renewed and her systems overhauled and replaced.

She is now in ship shape condition and longing for some sailing adventures.

Mechanical

This Nautor's Swan 47 is powered by a 2009 Volvo Penta D2 75 75hp diesel engine on flexible mountings, with only 480 engine hours.

The marine gearing is also hydraulic reverse by Borg-Wagner with a reduction ratio of 2.91:1. The exhaust system has a Volvo muffler with rubber silencer discharging through the transom. Silencer is provided with drain tap and temperature alarm. Raw water loop provided by anti-syphon line, discharging through topside. The engine has a closed cooling system. A drip pan is integral with engine bed. The engine room has been sound insulated.  All cockpit engine gauges, switches and controls have been replaced and electrical junctions are now located in a water-resistant enclosure behind a new Swan provided GRP engine control panel.

"Farouche" has a 24’ right-handed three blade Max Prop feathering propeller on a 1 ½" corrosion-resistant stainless steel shaft. The shaft is supported by cutlass bearings in the aft end of the shaft log and in a rigid strut. The packing gland is a Teflon type with stainless steel lock and flax packing and is new.

Fuel capacity has been improved and augmented from the original 54.2 gallons (US) or 205 lit, in two stainless steel tanks, to approximately 450 litres, all with shut-off cocks. They are cross-fed so that feed and return may be selected separately. Both tanks feed to a separate fuel filter water separator. All fuel tanks have separate deck fills, vents to the cockpit, removable inspection ports, and sounding rods.

Rigging

'Farouche' is equipped with a Nautor anodized double-spreader extruded aluminium alloy mast. The masthead is tapered and welded with two spinnaker cranes and four internal halyard sheaves, two of which are main halyard sheaves. Internal wiring is shielded in a PVC tube secured to the mast.
