First launched in 2010, Sanlorenzo Yachts in Italy has six of its 46-metre-long steel yachts already in commission with a further two under construction – a successful formula for a single superyacht yard. The 151-footer comes with a totally customisable interior plan, giving owners a proven hull design that they can personalise. Delivery time is 24 to 26 months from contract signing, much faster than with a fully custom build. The current launch of this massive motoryacht model, christened Trident, was built for an owner in Hong Kong. He’s expected to take delivery after final fit-out and sea trials are completed this summer.
The 46 Steel has some serious, cutting-edge superyacht features including a folding transom with water-level beach club, a starboard-side tender garage that keeps upper decks clear for guest use, anti-vibration construction to reduce noise underway, and a flybridge with panoramic views.
Also part of the design is an award-winning tunnel on the level beneath what is usually called the bottom deck. The tunnel is designed to let crew move from their quarters to the engine room, as well as to hold extra wine and other stores that otherwise would take up space in the regular galley stowage area.
Standard specs include a pair of 2,040-horsepower Caterpillar 3512C DITA engines that generate a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 17 knots. Range on the base model is 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Draught is 2.64m (8ft 8in).
Trident, built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, can cruise more than 3,500 nautical miles without refueling, according to Sanlorenzo. Her owner chose to incorporate a lift that connects the three upper decks; a fitness area and spa within the beach club at water level; a sundeck pool with contraflow current as well as whirlpool jets for swimming or relaxing, and an open-air cinema with projector on the sundeck.
The Eyong wood interior is finished in three shades of grey and black, complementing bleached-oak soles. Further customising the interior décor are bronzed brass metal accents along with Travertine, Pietra di Fossena and Amani Brown marble.
Sanlorenzo doesn't publish any price information for the 46 Steel, but you can learn more about the design and all the options for customising a new launch at Sanlorenzo Americas.
