The new Deck Saloon version of the Princcess V58 (see the earlier Princess V58 Open version here) gives you the feel of open boating, with the luxury of a climate controlled saloon. Alex Smith hopped aboard at the recent Southampton Boat Show to take a closer look.
Princess calls this a flexible enclosed deck and you can see exactly what they mean. You've still got a large sunpad and large j-shaped dining station and a wet bar in the aft cockpit. You can shut yourself off with lovely solid triple sliding doors, or you can leave them open and open the side windows and the large retractable sunroof. That way you really can enjoy all the benefits of a climate controlled environment, but at the same time, without sacrificing the joys that open boaters love.
Down below you get sleeping accommodation for six people in three cabins. While the third cabin is just a bunkroom to starboard, that does open up lots of space for the inclusion of a really serious galley and a lounge area.
This is obviously a very versatile layout that's ideal for family boaters. However, with engine options that enable speeds of up to 37 knots and a range in excess of 400 miles, this is also a very serious performance yacht.
