We went to the Cannes Boat Show to witness the world launch of the Jeanneau Leader 30, the new entry level model for the Leader range of family cruising powerboats (for an example of others in the range, see Jeanneau Leader 46 video: first look).

The Jeanneau Leader 30 is the only open model in the entire Leader range, and it certainly makes the most of that with an enormous dining station for six people. Meanwhile, fold-out cushions enable you to create a great sunpad without encroaching on that dining area.

Step down below on this boat and it's clear this is a very serious cruising boat. You get a very decent guest double aft, to starboard heads with a shower and a convertible dinette in the v of the bow. You also get excellent headroom with that swollen moulding on the foredeck and good light courtesy of the optional skylights.

You can spec the Jeanneau Leader 30 with petrol or diesel, with a single or even with a twin rig, but with a D4 300 you can expect 30 knot performance with a 150 nautical mile range which seems like an ideal compromise.
