Fjord Open 48 video: first look
The Fjord Open 48 makes a good impression on boats.com reviewer Alex Smith.
A fabulous high-speed party platform with facilities for all-day adventuring and two separate sleeping cabins with en-suite facilities down below. Alex Smith takes a close-up look at the Fjord Open 48, the new flagship of the range.
"Fjord's Open line is all about excess and indulgence," says Alex from the start. The 'all on deck' philosophy is ideal for Mediterranean summer escapades and tropical travels. The galley sits out in the open in between the open helm station and the seating and sun lounging areas at the stern. A second sun lounge lies forward of the helm, all protected by the high bulwarks.
Owners can specify as much as 1,400hp for a top speed of over 40 knots and a range of over 400 nautical miles. There is room in the stern locker for a Williams jet tender and in the bow, a range of electric anchoring options maintains the luxury aesthetic.
Down below, the main bedroom has an island bed surrounded by a pair of chaise longues. On one side is a wetroom and to the other, a walk-in wardrobe. The second bedroom is also spacious. Styling is luxurious and meticulous throughout, as you would expect from a model aimed squarely at superyacht and megayacht owners in the market for something a bit smaller.
Compare the Fjord Open 48 with the Frauscher 747 Mirage Air or perhaps the Hunton XRS52 – both featured on boats.com.
