The new Bavaria R40 was just one of the great new craft on display at this year's Cannes Yachting Festival. Powerboat guru Alex Smith hopped onboard to record this First Look Bavaria R40 Video tour around the boat.

The Bavaria R40 is the first in a new line of powerboats from Bavaria called the R-Series. It is designed to be a tremendously inclusive, family-friendly craft. To that end, Bavaria has given the R40 wide opening doors and a flush threshold to integrate the saloon and the aft cockpit. You also get two dining areas that join to seat as many as 10 people. Ideal for entertaining, parties or large family gatherings.

As well as being a very communal boat, it is also designed for serious cruisers. To that end you get three permanent forward-facing bucket seats, diesel power and a skipper's door to starboard.

Below-decks the story is all about privacy. There are two very simple double ensuite cabins. The master suit is very impressive as it's full-beam, not bad for a 40-footer.
