Origins
The boat was designed and built in Australia by Mustang Cruisers, a company based on the Gold Coast (Queensland). Mustang Marine launched the Mustang 2800 Sports Cruiser in the late 1990s as its best-selling entry-level family cruiser. It was positioned between the smaller 2400/2600 series and the larger 3200/3400 models.
In the UK and parts of Europe, Fletcher Boats (a long-standing British sportsboat builder) imported and marketed the 2800 under their own badge around 2000–2002. Fletcher themselves were known for small open sportsboats, so partnering with Mustang allowed them to offer a larger cabin cruiser without developing a new hull. Hence the name “Fletcher Mustang 2800”.
