Sid Howlett is an enigmatic figure... media-shy, he is very happy to stay in the background, but his role in Ben Ainslie's Olympic career is fundamental.

Ben AinslieBen and Sid have been a longstanding partnership. A former Finn Olympic campaigner himself, but back in the days of limited funding, with a sharp tongue, quick mind and keen sense of humour, Sid is a character that will always stand out in the memory of anyone who has met him. Understated, the intelligence of this tall, witty man with a distinctive smile, is evident and his knowledge of the nuances of sailing immense. In this fabulous video Ben Ainslie pays tribute to his coach and friend.
