  2. Hunter Legend 260

    Albufeira, Portugal
    2000
    £14,999

The Hunter 260 is a trailer cruiser that mixes performance with a comfortable interior. It's a perfect boat for a small family with many activities vying for limited vacation time. It is a boats that is easy to trailer, quick to rig and easy to sail. A boat that arrives at pristine cruising grounds miles from home and then get you home after a long weekend is a valuable commodity.   The H260 has a swing centre board that draws 6 feet when lowered, 1 feet 6 inches when raised and has a water ballast system that makes it ideal for towing by allowing you to add displacement after launching. The displacement without the water ballast is 3,000 pounds/ 1.3 Mt, which is well within the towing capacity of most full-size cars and 4X4's. It has a full-batten main and standard, 110-percent jib using halyards that led neatly back to the cockpit. The 260 has a large cockpit and companion way, all the sheets come aft and are on two winches. It’s simple to rig and sail. Mille is a tiller steering version with a drop rudder that pulls up out of the way to allow you to the swim ladder The fractional rig with its support struts is mounted in an easy-to-use tabernacle on deck. The raising and lowering can be done by one person but it’s a full days job, with two people its 3-4 hours. The raising and lowering system is a good design, safe and easy to use.     The boat include an enclosed heads with a new sea toilet and a full galley with a single burner. Hunter is famous for its interior design. The starboard side galley comes with a small sink, manual water system, and gas stove. An insulated cooler located in a built-in locker serves as an icebox. The overall effect is attractive and airy, with a nice finish and well-chosen colours creating a welcoming space below.   A huge U-shaped dinette surrounds the cabin table, which converts into a double berth in the fixed-keel boat. Three opening ports and large windows provide light and ventilation. A V-berth in the bow has curtains for some privacy. The main double berth is aft. There is plenty of space for a couple or a family with two young children. Full electrical system, hanging wet locker, recessed fuel tank locker in the cockpit, well-thought-out dish storage in the galley. The inventory includes PFDs, fire extinguishers and a blanket, Autohelm, VHF radio, 4 x fenders and mooring warps, New spray deck and Lazyjacks (these were replaced last season,(£2,000), depth and log. An outboard Yamaha 9-horsepower motor is swung from the stern. This engine is serviced and winterised every year. Last season it was stripped and cleaned free of salt and a new impeller fitted. Like most yachts it’s not done a great deal of work over the years. The trailer is the original but last season the ball hitch and the two complete axils were replaced along with a completed set of new boat rollers. (£2,200) Overall the yacht has been well cared for. Antifoul and wash every year and up to last year spent the winters on shore. She is currently in the marina in Albufeira should you wish to view her. The reason for the sale is that I am due to retire in early 2019 and I will do more long distance sailing, so will upgrade. I’ve had huge amounts of fun with Millie and she is a simple pleasure. I am asking a realistic price having replaced and add many new items at £14,999 (NADA Guide between €13,356 (£11,800) and €16,164  (£14,298) for the basic boat and trailer.

  5. Hunter Legend 40.5

    Waukegan, Illinois, United States
    1993
    £67,768

Fun-loving fresh water female with lots of energy seeking new love A beautiful, well-equipped 1993 Hunter Legend 40.5 in excellent condition for sale in the Chicagoland fresh water Lake Michigan area.  The owners are reluctantly selling due to a work relocation.  She will be sorely missed.  On the dry, she is sitting in the prettiest cradle in the yard until she will seek the water again for another sailing season.  The gelcoat on the hull and topside shines due to the dedicated owners' polish & wax each season and her own Noreaster winter cover.  Good Fortune has received so many upgrades.  A big plus is the recently installed 16000 BTU reversible AC that keeps you cool on the hot, humid days or warm when the outside temps drop.  The 50hp Yanmar diesel has very low hours at 1010 supported by a 3 blade feathering Max prop.  For a boat designed as a cruiser, she hides her weight well & keeps up with some of the leaner breeds.  She comes with a 150% Genoa, a spinnaker pole & a tri-radial asymetrical spinnaker that carries the colors of our beloved American flag.  The main sail raises easily from the lazy jack sail bag along a mast track system with the push of the power winch button.  Once the sails are raised, set a course on the B&G Zeus Touch 2 chartplotter which is integrated with the autopilot, B&G wind & other instruments.  The bimini will provide shade on bright sunny days & the dodger will keep the wind and cold water spray away.  In the marina, a full enclosure and cockpit cushions provide for an extended, comfortable living space in any weather.  Good Fortune will be sold with all its inventory from lifejackets to silverware so that the new owner can get on the water for sailing fun immediately.  Just stock the 'fridge & go!
